    .50 cal Sniper

Ok, so I know this has been discussed to death but I feel I have a little bit of added input that may be of use. If not, then at worst I wasted a few minutes of your time.

I think that the .50 cal sniper rifle should definitely be a one shot, one kill weapon for any shot to the torso. In my limited experience, this will not ruin gameplay. SOCOM 2 was a game I played for quite some time and it has two .50 cal rifles that are one shot, one kill. To top it off, EVERYONE has access to them right from the start. They aren't unlocks. It didn't ruin gameplay and everyone didn't run around as a sniper. I know it's a different game but it's the only one that I played with any similarity. Also, you can't be "spotted", scanned, etc in that game.

Lets face it, snipers don't normally get high scores and are already a relatively weak class. There is no element of stealth. I don't care if they had to slow the reload times, bring back ff for the claymores, or even lower the accuracy somewhat but a .50 cal round should kill in one shot to a vital area, period. I have come to terms with the fact that this game isn't as realistic as it was marketed to me but the fact that .50 cal round can hit you in the chest and you can still shoot back at me is rediculous. It wouldn't ruin gameplay because other games have used this "model" successfully.

I have always known the power of a .50 cal round but all one has to do is go to google video and type in .50 cal sniper to see exactly what it can do to you.

You are so wrong, it's not even funny. The .50 cal IS a one-shot, one-kill if you get a head shot. This is acceptable to me. My first primary class was sniper and I think it's rediculous that you would even try and gain support for the idea that this should come about. It requires SKILL to be a sniper. Learn how to shoot people in the head or switch to another class.

right you want a .50 cal instant kill
then the g3 will also be an instant killer
the m16 and ak 47 will kill in 1 shot as well (at most 3)
the gl would wipe out entire squads
the tanks would never be destroyed by infantry weapons
and no one would play sniper because you have to be prone and the view distances mean that you can still be seen by your quarry

Currently we have 99% of the team running around as support, if they made the M95 a 1 hit kill weapon 99% of the team would be sniper, they seem to think the bullets harm tanks?

Here's a question for you: WHY do you want an M95 shot to the chest to be lethal?

If you said "realism," try again. Your realism argument ends every time I defibrilate the bullets out of people.

The implications of an instakill from 800 meters where you barely have to aim at your target are ridiculous. You'd be forcing everyone to either grab a vehicle or hide, since you'd never be able to step out into the open without getting blasted.

EDIT -- SOCOM 2 also has scope sway, which is also much more severe on the .50-cal rifles than any of the others. BF2, you can just crouch, zoom, and shoot, most of the time you'll hit.

                Re: .50 cal Sniper

First of all, I'd like to say that I do have above average skill, as of lately anyway. This is because I realized the accuracy of the M24 and the fact that I turned the sensitivity down on my mouse which helped tremendously. I have no problem getting headshots now. That's not the point though. What's the purpose of having a .50 cal in the game that is this weak? To shoot through cockpits? If your game is based on this, then there's a problem. Let me turn in my unlock if this is how it's going to be. The M24 is easier to use anyways.

The PKM can squeeze off 3 rounds in the time it takes to shoot one round of the .50, yet it can kill someone so what's the difference? If there's 99% of the people running around as support and people can live with it, then why can't you live with "possibly" more snipers? What would be the problem with using transport vehicles as their purpose?

Also, I never used realism as an argument. I even stated that I have come to terms with this although I DID have different impressions of the game before I bought it because of how they marketed it.

Yes, SOCOM 2 had sway in it but you also couldn't be spotted, scanned, or UAV'd either. I even said that accuracy could be compromised a little bit, as well.

I'm simply offering something to think about and if you don't agree then you are more than welcome to post so (hopefully without much hostility) or ignore this thread. In any case, as it is now there is very little reason to use the unlock that I wasted over the M24.

                  I just stopped reading.
You've obviously got no clue how annoying this would be.
Just because you play games, it doesn't qualify you as a designer... or give your personal desires to own everything on the map with a "cheap" long range weapon any legitamacy at all..

The reason it isn't a on-shot kill is because it would be too powerful. The advantage of the M95 is that you can use it at medium range and then switch to your pistol and kill them with one shot. This is good if they're getting too close for the rifle or are hopping like mad in an attempt to close the distance and kill you. A quick switch to the pistol and you bagged yourself a bunny!

Both CS and BF2 have ruined thier snipers by neglecting to input scope wobble.

I never claimed to be a designer, however it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out that certain games are alike and realize what you liked in some could possibly relate to others. Who says what desires one may have are legitimate or not? YOU?! You think too highly of yourself if this is the case. I am aware that this could possibly be annoying, but no more so than a PKM. Like it was said before, SOCOM 2 had it and when you died, it was for the rest of the round so one could assume that this could get annoying but you know what? You learn to adapt. I've adapted to the game as it is now but it doesn't mean I have to like every aspect of it and I am well within my right to come to a place where people come to DISCUSS and voice my opinion. It's not like I am constantly on these boards putting outrageous topics up so why don't you give me a break? With that post count, I suspect you regard yourself as the ultimate authority here though.

Honestly, I never really needed headshots for the M95 to work effectively. If you fire at the targets everyone else is shooting at, your chance of killing the said target is pretty high. Remember, the M95 does enough damage to leave someone with 2% health; if you shoot someone who has 98% health or less, grats on the kill.

                            Headshots are for suckers.

I'd say that a good 50% of people that I shoot with the M95 die on that first shot anyhow. Regardless if it was a headshot or not. Reason ..... if they are charging around, they are likely to get knicked by a bullet here or there or take some damage falling down some steps or off a wall or roof. Their health is already down a bit. One shot, one kill.

If they are camping it up somewhere and they are at full health as a result, they probably are not moving around that much and lining up a headshot isn't all that difficult.

The game doesn't need some uber weapon. You think people are not complaining about the PKM??? LOL

The M95 is perfectly fine the way it is. Especially since they increased the accuracy some more.
