it wont be dual channel on an athlon XP anyhow...

AMD 64 is where your dual channel is crucial for top performance. 2 sticks or 4 sticks. your choice. 4 has a slower command rate of 2T instead of 1T... But many charts have shown this has no real world impact on game performance.

Although expensive, as you have to replace BOTH sticks to get 2gb id recommend it. try starting by only upgrading 1 stick, and see how it goes. Oh, and buy good RAM not slow, value crap!
