2 Gb of Ram ????????? Should I

Guys , not being to techy minded i wondered if un apgrade of Ram would be of any use ? I love BF2 that much .

Current rig as follows :

AMD 4200 Dual core
2*512 sticks or ram
N force 4 Mother board
2 * 6800 Nvidia Cards in SLI

By putting in two sticks of 1gb Corsair what improvemenst would i seee if any, i want to know my £150 is well spent ?

As a friend to me said...

..."More RAM is never wrong". Poor me can only get one more 512MB RAM stick, I only have 3 ports.

I've heard it's not a good idea to have 3 running, can anyone comment this?
The thing I heard was that they won't work good together, you must have 1, 2 or 4, not 3. :O

So I'm not sure if I can get more RAM.

Using 3 sticks is fine as far as i know.

But that doesnt make tat much of a differece, and i bet the performance gain you get out of another 512Mb will out way the dual channel problem by a long way.

I just upgraded from 1GB to 1.5GB, all 512mb sticks and its be fine, althought I cant tell a difference between Medium and High.

Do it, you won't regret it. BF2 will run quicker, and so will your comp overall.

It's a performance upgrade you can't fail to justify.

Check your motherboad manual. I can only put 1 stick of pc 3200 or 2 of pc2700 or 3 of pc 2100 in mine.

i have to agree that the 2GB has helped on my machine. I had 1GB originally running along with a AMD 64 3500+, 256mb 6600 500Mhz with 2 x 160gb SATA hard drives. It was pretty quick then but i noticed a great difference in loading times and general stabilty in game play. Also after adding the extra gig (i am now using 4 x 512 PC3200 sticks in dual channel) i adjusted my pagefile and also moved it to my other physical drive and have had very pleasurable game play ever since!

so a definate yay from me.
