    Installation Failure?

While installing Battlefield, it stops right after I insert the second disk and tells me "Failed to install Battlefield 2, please start from the beginning."

I've tried cleaning my registry and deleting my profiles but it still gives me the error. I've also tried using someone elses second disk but that doesn't work either.

    My specs are:
    P4 3.00 Ghz
    GeForce 6600 GT
    512mb PC3200 Ram
    Pioneer DVD+-RW

Did you delete the actual folder as well?

Yes all folders were deleted, I also searched my computer for anything battlefield 2 related and tried installing in safe mode but nothing worked.

What about the BF2 folder in your Documents.

I had a similar experience when my SF installation screwed up. If I recall correctly I did a search of all modified content for that day, of the installation. I identified what was game related by grouping the times together and deleted everything. Just don't delete the recyle bin until your sure everything still works.
I did the same with the registry. Run>type in regedit . Make a back up copy. Use the search function to find 'battlefield' and delete those entries.

I think I had this same exact problem where it wouldnt load the second disk......is it booting it up or will it not just let u install it? If its not booting then what u do is put the second disk in and wait till u start to hear it load and the click next (or whatever it says)...but im not to sure if thats the problem ur having or not

            Re: Installation Failure?

To the first question, yes, I deleted everything to do with battlefield 2 except the downloaded patch files.

To the second question, it would load disk to and continue for about 5 seconds and then give me the message, "Failed to install Battlefield 2, please start from the beginning." and then would shut down the installer.

Try manually installing it if all else fails.

Ive tried that also. It seems that i have stumbled on an incurable problem.

If anyone has a link to a site with an answer or another suggestion, please post.

You could try EA support, they are pretty quick relatively speaking, they also have a step by step troubleshoot that will probably help you.

I'm at work now but I think when you first put in the dish and the auto loader start up where it asks you to play, install, exit, support (going by memory here) Find the one that refers to support.
                  It really does work.

Then make sure your temp files are cleared out, I just remembered, but forgot to mention it earlier. TEMP files:)
Damn, that was to obvious. TEMP files. There is a good free utility that finds all the crap, actually I think it's called crap cleaner. Gonna google right now make sure it is the one I'm thinking about.

Yup that is the one http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4191.html

Again going by memory, I first used this some days ago when I had your problem. Night shift messes my days up. Click on the second tab, Applications, I believe there is a selection for TEMP files, make sure it is selected. Deselect your MS explorer or Firefox (whatever your using) so you don't lose your cookies, otherwise you'll have to sign back in manually to the forums. Yeah I learned the hard way.
