Try going to run and type in temp and just delete those.

it seems that temp was one of the things that i cleaned

is manual installation in any way better or worse than CD other than being faster?

that was what caused mine!!! My son had SF the downloaded version installed. He bought me the store bought for my birthday last week. I installed it. The next day he had to re-install his game so I gave him the CD version to save time and told him I would just download the his downloaded version, so he can get back on right away.
That's when it happened. But I did everything I said here already.

Try it, shouldn't hurt anything. Just leave everything in your recycle bin just in case, but yes you should be able to delete everything.
Or can you wait 'til tomorrow?

DELETE eveything in your temp file. I can't see why there would be a problem, they are after all only temps.

14 Hours, I'm in Ontario so it would be 4 or 5pm your time in the afternoon.

Your problem is fixable. You just need to be patient.

I'm thinking that you think your doing it right, but actually your missing something really simple.

I know how you feel, when you think your close and don't want to stop. Sometimes though it is good just to step back, take a break, knowing it can be fixed.
Talking on vent I think your problem will be solved in minutes as opposed to hours going back and forth here.

I use to live in Chilliwack back in 1978-1982. Finished high school there and soon after joined the military:) left the military in '88 though and settled in Ontario..

no my disks are in good condition

ive also copied the diskd onto my hard drive for manual installation

I have also had the same problem. I use to play battlefield two a little while back. Then I stop for a while. Now wanting to start up again I can't. I keep getting the "Failed to install Battlefield 2, try again from the beginning" error message. I did all the things to uninstall it and I hunted down all the files related to bf2 and things like that. I got rid of all the temp files. Everything that has been said I have done (at least that I know of). Any ideas? I have a feeling I am just over looking something very little but very important. Thanks for the help in advance.

I had the same problem.

Luckily my computer has 2 CD/DVD drives. In one drive I got the error, but in the other drive the install went smoothly. Perhaps this will help someone.

P.S. Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I do like when solutions are found and posted.

Yeh have you tried uninstalling and delteting the file completely then reinstalling
