I personally do think it will be the next BF game.

Here's an interesting article on it that sheds a little light on the subject:

In a February interview with Shacknews.com, BF senior producer Dan Blackstone hinted that the series may be taking a new direction by dropping some mathematics. "We're about to announce something very big, so stay tuned," Blackstone told the site. "3213/3X2. Or said another way: S.R. 4588164." The number 3213 divided by three and multiplied by two equals 2142, and the square root of 4588164 is 2142. The year 2142 just happens to be exactly two hundred years after the game that started the BF series, Battlefield 1942.

This doesn't say 100% that this was an actual leaked video, nor do I think if it was that DICE would want it back pronto, but it does definitely look good, and I'd be happy to play it...or at least a demo of it before its release!

I say that 3DS max exists too, so just a bit of medeling and skinning into a bf2 mod is alos a possibility. But i must say that does look cool, hope it gets better along the way.

I saw someone saying in another thread that their mod got shut down by EA because it contained mechs in it. A bit fishy eh?

Mechs suck. No army on this Earth will EVER serious field humanoid shaped war machines.

The design is so inherantly flawed that it just isn't feasible.

Tracks, tyres, rotors or jet engines are the way to go. Legs? HA!

I remember playing a future cop that was for the PC ages ago, that had a similair look and feel to the video but the graphics were nowhere near those.

If I remember rightly the main vehicle you had morphed into three different modes, a walker, a hoverthingy and something else... I also reckon that this may well have been an intentional leak in order to check interestlevels, I imagine they're following any threads etc. on it fairly closely.

This won't be new engine game though will it, I think EA will be saying to DICE so what's your next release for Christmas....

Lets make a mod called BF2142 and sell it as a full game.

Naw... I doubt very much they'd attempt a release that soon. They've spent too much on BF2 and they need to let it coast for awhile. Prop things up with their booster packs to help with income and let the game continue through it's life cylce.

I'm guessing that we won't see any version of BF2 for atleast 2 years. Prolly more like 3.

Edit: Then again... thinking about how this would be a diviregent game with a slighty different target market, maybe it could be sooner... and based on the same engine.

DICE definitly can milk more money out of bf2. they still can release more expansion packs (mods) like special forces. Those things make mone way easier than making a completely new game. I definitly expect at least couple pf xpacks on top of the booster packs.

It is very logical that DICE might be working on bf3 now. it will take a very long time to finish a new title.

How about that ide that this bf2142 might be a new xpack for bf2?!?!? maybe it has nothing to do with bf3!

I didnt read this whole thread but that is NOT futurecop.
The mech looks like the same design but i can tell you that game had no such cutscene in it.
BUt i believe that the way the infantry is running looks ALOT like BF style.

They should do some research on how Military stuff might actually be like in 2142 other than just watch films/look at other games and just make walking robots and stuff like that...

Educated guesses rather than stupid fantasy...

I thought it was noticeable that prior to SF, EA on the UK forum said 'We don't know if we'll be doing another patch' then one week after SF release they said 'We're doing another patch and two boosters'

I guess it depends how well the boosters sell. It would not take them long to do BF2142 based on the BF2 engine and I'm pretty sure EA will try to push that on them, i.e. Christmas release.

When is Armoured Fury out May ish, June would be my bet for further clues on their next moves.

Old'd, and even if they did make something like that, we all know how the original game changed to what we have now, I really doubt that video is full proof.
