ummm I updated PB files bfore installin 1.21 would it make a difference if i updated files after installing 1.21?
Btw thx for every1s support on this topic I can c im not the only one with this problem.
Plus I have crap gear lol so that might b why but i havent encountered strong lag bfore 1.21.

I have bad lag too. I have 2 gigs of ram, and a pentium IV 2.8 ghz with 6800 GT. I run at medium settings and have always ran the game flawssley.

Not 1.21 patch, and it lags like hell. I cant even play the game anymore.

I tried everything in this thread including punkbuster update (which worked) but stil have terrible lag

I was lagging to, read this thread updated my PB file in BF2 and lag is gone. Remember you can update PB from within BF2. Go to the BF2 folder, click on it, then you'll see a folder called 'pb' that's punk buster. Fine the only .exe file in it, execute it, and pb will go out to the web and update it self.

Worked like a charm no more lag! :)

This thread helped me figure it out so thanks peeps.

Mine lags also, i did a fresh intall of windows and it still does it and didnt do it befor 1.21

I aint got no .exe file in that folder !!!!

Maybe I aint got PB installed.

I cant even play on server in my on country. Even with a ping of 45 I see lag like crazy. ALL LOW settings. Barton 2600+, 1 gig RAM, 6600GT 128 meg

Same thing here, and I solved it with a Punkbuster update.
And I used incremental too. Try that before you reinstall...

I noticed lag last night, I just ran the pbsetup program and while the version numbers looked up to date it still updated the client with something, hope that fixes it.

I tryed everything Reinstalled windows, and did all the tips suggested in the thread, Even the PB update But i did find out one thing, I when i reinstalled BF2 i only updated it up to 1.2, and i had no lag or shuttering problems at all, it must be the code in 1.21 how can you tell if a program has memory leak?

You can try to use some of the tweaks over at bf2lag.com (which is temporally down).
Also make sure you don't have Norton security because the guys over at evenbalance said that Norton-Anti Virus interferes with PB causing lag and turning anti-virus off doesn't fix it...you have to reinstall Norton securities after installing a new patch for bf2.
