I had that exact same problem with BF2 for awhile, it eventually went away though. I don't really remember doing anything particular to solve it. You are lagged out completely when it does that right?

Anyway, mine did it on a GeForce 6800GT that runs hot. I've changed the drivers and added cooling since then and haven't ever had a problem like that again *knocks on wood*

I had this problem once too, on Operation Clean Sweep. I always thought it was because I was AIMed out of BF2 while it was loading the map ... once I shut the program down and restarted it, problem was gone.

are you overclocking your video card?

if so maybe you need to check temperature or perhaps as said above reinstall drivers...

Id say driver problem , had the same problem way back in the Bf42 Dc days on an Ati driver . In my case all i could see was buildings "was a pain in the ass" . I remember a few times seing an enemy coming over the hill ,and here is me shooting at the hill cuz i dont know where the hill ends lol.

As sugested before re install drivers ,then if the issue comes back check for heat issues .
