It will be the new ATI GFX updates, I heard bad things about them so I didn't bother updating and mine works fine.

Ive updated my ATI drivers and they work great so far.

Make sure that your settings are on software, not hardware. i dont know what else there might be thats causing it.

Hmm...Is it just me or is it kinda odd that it doesn't happen always? If I re-install do I need to re-install all the mods or can I somehow perform a repairing install because it's too damn frustrating to start all over again...OR Should I wait for the 1.3 patch?

This has nothing to do with sound cards, the source of the problem is very obviously ATI graphics cards & drivers.

Additional research has shown that near the time when this odd distortion happens weapon at hand tends to disappear mostly. Anyways, info, anybody?

revert your gfx driver a couple versions and try an official one, not the Omega ones.

If you have tried this already, thats my only suggestion, if you are unwilling to try it, I can't help ya.

Now I reverted back to Catalyst 6.2 and just as I thought the problem had disappered it started happening again (it ran well for few hours). Now it seems that I also have those CTDs from pressing the Join game and in other occasions.
I think that in the light of this evidence I can sentence BF2 to be bugfixed!
