    Last man standing

We've all been there, the other side is just too strong and pretty soon you have no flags left to spawn at. You have only 1 or 2 people that are left alive on your team.. but they are unaware that the rest of their teammates are all dead!

So.. how do you communicate with them and tell them to move their asses?

They can't read messages from dead people regardless of if they are commander, squad member or team member, and they also cannot hear you if you are dead even using the BF2 builtin voip.

How to get around this annoyance?

Quite recently we had this exact situation, the only people left alive on our team were the commander and a sniper. The commander must have been incredibly tunnel visioned to not notice that there was only 1 blue dot left on the map as he called out enemies and UAV'd areas while we who were dead looked on and laughed hilariously. It was funny for a minute or two until all of us that were dead began wondering how to get these 2 to realise they were the only ones left alive..

Then it hit me: I made a squad called "CAP A FLAG!" and invited them to it!

They both got the message and proceeded to try cap a flag, but it was already too late.. the enemy commander was useless, but our guys just ran into bad luck (enemy infantry) on their little journeys

Try this method next time you are in this situation, it is good for getting v.short messages across and may still give your team a fighting chance!

Other alternatives could be squads called "evry1 dead!" etc

        LOFL! Good show. Well done.

But you should have named it "cap a flag you idiots!!!"

If you created the squad, you are squad leader and can use the "Manage Squad" button near the bottom to invite people, the ones left alive will have their names in blue while the dead ones will be in grey.

Unfortunately there is a character limit on the squad names, so you have to be brief with your messages.. or do it repeatedly under different squad names

Is this true? I usually press 'K' and give the guy a little persuasion, hhmmm thought it worked sometimes too, i didn't know dead troops couldn't communicate with the living, although it does make sense.

I've always seen messages saying <TEAM> *DEAD* so-and-so: blah blah... during the game. Is that only when I'm dead, and only when we have a flag to spawn on? I haven't paid very much attention to it so I woulnd't know. Does anyone know how the text works with people who are "dead"?

Go to manage squad and click on the box, only five at a time can be invited when are by yourself. This was a great post. I thought you had to have a flag to spawn on your squad leader?

I will tell something that was really cool on Karkand. I was squad leader and I was running towards the hotel flag from the suburbs. I made it, but I did not know we had no flags left, once I saw it on my map(the map is my friend) and hid in my typical hidden spot that has saved me so many times and I caped the flag right before I died......I mean right before......and I squad immediatly spawn on me. It was a close call. That was some of the intensive play on Karkand I had.....the lone squad leader and was able to save the whole team....

I'm pretty sure the living can't read dead messages or hear them.

I've been both the unaware last man and dead needing a flag on multiple occasions. When squad leader (dead) I tried to communicate with the commander (alive) to get him to capture a flag using "Push to talk" and "Com. Channel", even clicking the little speaker icon beside their names in the squad screen all to no avail: no response what so ever. Same result for typed messages.

When I used the invite to squad technique the response was almost instantaneous, so I am assuming that is the only bit of communication they could see / hear

I don't have 2 copies of BF2 to test it on, but empirically this seems to be the case ^_^

Just checked, the Squad name limit is 10 characters.. not much for getting messages across, but sufficient :)

Make use of it while you still can. I'm sure DICE will nerf this as it IS an exploit albeit a very useful one.

Are you sure you can't communicate with your squad on VoIP when you are dead and they're not (or vice-versa)?

                          Re: Last man standing

When I play BF2 with my friends wife (were always on the same squad on mics) and I die and try talking to her (alive), she never hears anything I say whilst dead so that seems to be the case

Also this method allows you to communicate with people not normally in your squad (lone woves, members of other squads etc) when you are in this situation

Great Idea, this just proves that the greatest and deadliest weapon in this game is your brain. Dont forget, when this happens you can exit out of the spawn screen and press "C" to get a third person look at what the remaining players are doing. Oh, and the dead can talk with the living players via text Ive done this on several occaisions (Red(DEAD) enemy on north roof) Even though the voip wont let you. I know that this works because I was in a squad and saw someone ask the squad leader to move around so they could spawn on him, he was on a roof, and he answered them. I think the join squad Idea is better though, it will get thier attention . . . . . . . . . .Red

This is an awsome trick to get there attention. It might even wake up a sniper:p
But .. this issue of no typing an no voip when your dead does not sound right to me. I have seen text from ppl displayed when there dead..
so in so*dead* lol and I have also typed to ppl when i was dead and waiting to respawn.
As for the in game voip.. I'll often ask my squad leader over voip what kit he wants me to spawn back with.. this is being done while I'm dead and waiting to respawn. Or someone in the squad gets killed and over voip we let the rest of the squad know we were just killed..an often warn them where someone is located.
Now is this issue of not being able to communicate only present when there are no spawn points available?
