    Boom! Headshot Damages

EDIT: Since doing these tests, the 3x damage multiplier to the head has been offered as a rule of thumb. While this is usually true, a couple of the guns do not hold true for some reason, even after multiple tests.

    Boom Headshot! Damage

A friend and I got in an empty server last night and did some testing on headshots. As everyone knows, any sniper weapon can kill in one head shot. We were wondering if any other weapons can deal out this kind of pain as well. While we were not able to test ALL guns, we did quite a few. Here are our findings…

DISCLAIMER: These head shots were all tested from about 8-10 feet away pointed directly at the face, single shot. If the gun did not have single shot, we made doubly sure to only squeeze out one bullet. We also tried each shot several times to make sure. We didn’t want there to be any question that we hit the head. Also, sniper and shotgun type guns were not tested. AGAIN, these are HEADSHOT damages….

As a margin of error, lets say + or - 5 damage on these readings. Those bars are kinda hard to read!

We tested both armored and unarmored classes, and both receive same damage!!

    Assault Class

    USA M16 85 damage
    MEC AK-101 INSTAKILL
    CHINA AK-47 INSTAKILL

    G3A3 INSTAKILL
    F2000 INSTAKILL

    Support Class

    USA M249 60 damage
    MEC RPK-74 INSTAKILL
    CHINA Type 95 60 damage

    PKM INSTAKILL
    MG36 85 damage

    Medic Class

    USA M16 85 damage
    MEC AK-101 INSTAKILL
    CHINA AK-47 INSTAKILL

    L85 INSTAKILL
    G36E 90 damage

    Anti-Tank Class

    USA MP5 50 damage
    MEC PP-19 50 damage
    CHINA Type 85 50 damage

    P90 50 damage

    Special Ops Class

    USA M4 60 damage
    MEC AKS-74U 80 damage
    CHINA QBZ-97 60 damage

    G36C 60 damage
    SCAR-L 70 damage

    Sniper and Engineer Class

None tested. I would like some numbers on the MP7 though! I don’t have that one unlocked!

    ALL Pistols registered 55 damage…

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DO SOME MORE TESTING, AND I WILL ADD IT TO THE LIST!!!

Thanks for the info! There's more insta-kill weapons on that list than I expected. That might explain a little bit of the aimbot theories going around as well...

Yes, EXACTLY! This was very enlightening, and fun to test! Even a lot of the default guns deal a pretty heavy blow to the head (no jokes please). :)

Actually, it´s common knowledge that headshots do 3X normal damage. While your results don´t exactly duplicate this fact they´re close enough to support it, considering measurement inaccuracy.

I didnt realize this 3x multiplier was "common knowledge". For instance, the pistol, which normally hits for 20, is a 2x multiplier resulting in 40 damage to the head in our tests. From our tests, we cannot assign a blanket 3x multiplier to all guns. It is true for some though.

Yes, its good to get empirical data but as another poster said...head shots do 3X damage so any weapon that has a damage of 34 or higher will be a 1 shot kill to the head. The L85A1 Medic gun used to NOT be a 1 shot/headshot kill weapon but its damage was increased in the 1.2 patch from 32 to 34. The following are NOT 1 shot kills to the head:

            Type 95
            M249
            HK21
            MG36
            M16A2
            FAMAS
            G36E
            MP5
            PP19
            Type 85
            P90
            All pistols
            MP7

Sorry, NOT TRUE. I use the M95 almost exclusively, and I have had *plenty* of kill head-shots. I know this because I've aimed at newly-spawned targets and I was the only team-member around to do damage.

A head shot is the only thing that explains the insta-kill in these cases, because the M95 does 95 damage to the body.

The type 95 and the M95 are two different guns. The type 95 is a support gun, while the M95 is a sniper gun. I deliberately did not test any sniper guns because they are all one shot kill to the head.

That test was a great idea. Thanks for the info. It was interesting to see that some weapons did more damage although listed as doing less than others (such as the G36C doing more than the SCAR).

Did you guys have several trials for each weapon, or did you do them all once?

Then I must have some how missed. I have shot to the head with the M95(since unlocked that is the one I use) and not all have been instant killed. So, now I just aim for the chest(a bigger target), but now with this info, I'll try the head shot again.

By the way, this was a very helpful and useful forum on the weapons. The P2000, I knew was a powerfull weapon, but I did not know it was a one shot kill to the head. Good post everyone.:salute:

Yes we tried each weapon several times to make sure. The most interesting one was the G36E. We were only able to get a headshot for 90 damage ONCE in the five times that we tried. The rest were just standard damage, even though aimed right at the face.

Uh, why does the G36C do so much more damage than the M4? That doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, I was kinda baffled by this as well, since they do the same normal damage. We duplicated each 3-4 times though. I am planning on doing some more testing with the default weapons for MEC and China, so I will probably recheck those two AGAIN

And are you sure a head shot from the M95 is an instant kill?

Yes, every sniper weapon is one shot kill to the head. Headshots can be deceiving sometimes because of server to client communication. You point it on his head, but the server thinks his head is somewhere else. Weird stuff like that. Also, dont forget about muzzle rise. At medium distances I have better luck with the m95 by aiming just below their head, say their collar bone area, the muzzle rise when you shoot, will make it hit their head....
