That means it's actually running at 1.8 GHz but the manufacturer rates it as roughly equivalent to a 3.1 GHz P4. Athlon XP, Athlon 64, Sempron, and Pentium M chips all run much faster than their actual clock speed would indicate.

Firestick, these are lovely things that your video card will do to make everything look really nice. Nope you can't google them and download them, you'll need a new video card which supports them.

A simple google define:pixel shader, brings the following link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_shader
            enjoy!

              Thanks gpierre,

and which video cards support them? im kind of stupid on this... but ANY of the "recommended video cards" that was listed: should have or support vetex shaders and pixel shaders right? i hope. )

what to replace with depends on what the card you're replacing is, whether it's agp or pci express, and how much you want to spend. I'm not really the best person to tell you what card to buy, post a new thread or take a look through the forums to see what other people recommend.

The eaisier question is "what DOESN'T support them?" Answer: anything from nVidia that is GeForce 4xxx or lower and ATI cards lower than Radeon 8500. Also, the PCI versions of ATI Radeon 9200 and 9500/9550 apparently don't work for some reason. These cards will not run the game at all regardless of settings.

you can play the game on a p4 1.7ghz (with at least 1mb cache), 384 mb of ram, and a 32 mb card, i can, on my old desktop, all on low, no lag...but you have to know how to tweak.

They may be overstating things a bit. Most estimates I've seen make a P-M equivalent to a 60% faster P4 (so my PM-2000/400 would be equivalent to a P4-3200). Could be higher with the newer higher FSB speeds I suppose (except that P4s also have higher FSB now).
