Sorry but when you have the F-15, the most dominant air superiority fighter currently flying, represented in game as a slow, unmaneuverable bomber you lose all rights to speak to realism. Not to mention this is a GAME, it needs to be balanced for both sides.
The F-15C WAS the most dominant air superiority fighter. Langley just got the first squadron of F-22's a few months ago and the 15 will start to be phased out of Active Duty.

The plane in the game is actually an E model 15. Which loses alot of its C abilities due to the added weight of munitions and fuel etc....

Around 250 hours in a jet and I still haven't seen these mythical "bait pilots" that are apparently the bane of all J-10, but I'll keep looking just for you BurnTheWeed. LOL.

No F-15 has ever been lost in combat, and it is widely accepted as the greatest fighter ever built. If you would like to suggest another contender to the throne go for it, but you better be prepared to back it up.

              True point, cant argue it.

But if I recall the C model has never been busted in Combat,

Hasnt the E model had a couple losses in combat?

Id like to witness that, and ofcourse take on the winner:laugh:

To the topic though yes I agree the j-10 needs some nerfing or boost the f-35 ,the migs I dont seem to have trouble with.I do pretty good against the j-10s also but they are also generally backed by the new AA and that makes it even more difficult...There are ways around it but they are few and far between.

I agree with you on Dalian, but on Wake, you have to land on Island that's Chinese turf, manned AA and a deadly fighter. At least a blackhawk used to take few pass's, now you line it up not fearing anything and it's down in seconds.

That's the biggest differance on Wake I used to see a BH and think 'oh my better get to work on that' now it's 'spot BH = dead, spot chopper = dead, spot plane = dead, spot boat = dead'

I played Oman and Kubra and thought the A2A was spot on, I was expecting 1.12 A2A but it's not that, where is that other AA thread.....

Nice, I missed that. I thought the F-22's weren't being officially rolled out until later this year. The general point of my comment still stands though.

...and doesn't address the major issue we're trying to address in this thread, in fact it has absolutely nothing to do with this thread. The J-10 will still evade almost every missile shot at it, and all the other planes will still be nothing more than fodder for it.
What!? It has everything to do with this thread. It's balancing the J-10 while allowing that balance to trickle down into other areas of the game. You don't honestly think you can change one aspect of BF2 and not "irritate" another do you?

Also, I could have sworn I put in this little paragraph:

The balance simply wouldn't trickle down into "all" situations as it needs to. There would have to be minor tweaks in other areas of the game.
Oh! Wait! Oh my word!? It looks like maybe, just maybe, I Addressed the thread early in my post you simply overlooked it!?... or, or; just wait this is the grand-puma. The rest of my post was simply to give my "Alternate" solution to your own solution and keeps other aspects of the game in sight!?

Nope.. that couldn't have been it. I must just be completely of base.

This is of course working under the assumption that Fighters don't engage one another regularly because of plane balances. Which is false. The true reason pilots don't "typically" engage one another is because pilots are "usually" working for their own gain. Their own score takes priority and, sadly, the air isn't the place to beef up that score.

You accumulate a lot more points by "carpet/dive bombing" the hell outa' helpess infantry.

Heck. On most occasions, two fighter pilots will completely ignore one another in order to bomb the ground units... because you earn more points that way.

Most importantly, the best pilots will create an aura of "air superiority" for their team and allow their helicopters and bomber to operate in that zone. That's teamwork, and that's the dynamic that DICE should really be encouraging with the maps key vehicles.
I agree. Yet, there is no reason infantry should be left out of the loop in the "air superiority creation" process. Infantry should have the means to down a Jet at "ANY" time. Much like a Jet has the means to dominate infantry "ALL THE TIME".

That's true balance. This mindset needs to carry over into whatever changes Dice/EA decides to make. Big or small.

P.S.- ...and please don't be a hypocrite. Your straddled Princesse's behind for disagreeing with you yet not giving any solutions, or telling you why you were wrong. Yet now you're doing the exact same thing to me... "it's overly complicated". Can I get a why? Maybe an , " ...your ideas are over complicated because (fill in the blank)". Don't just try to brush my ideas aside. Otherwise, you're no different than the individual you titled "Idiot".

But I still love the E model, it looks so sinister with a couple AGM-130's strapped to the side of it.:guns:

You said you want them the exact same and then you wanted them to have diffrent abilities? But none the less, the J-10 does need to be fixed. It is the God of the skys. I usually play 24/7 wake and whenever I am USMC I don't even bother to fly (unless there is an empty jet on the carrier and no one is around).

Ive always seen it stated as "no F-15 ever lost in combat". You got me interested enough to go digging deeper though and it would appear you are right, it looks like a couple of the E variation have gone down. I'm still sticking with the F-15 air frame as a whole as the greatest air superiority fighter. As you pointed out above I suppose the F-22 surpases it now that the Raptor has been deployed, although until it is battle tested I'm not sure you can take the title from the Eagle. Anyways, fun discussion but we are really getting off topic. I only started out to make a point about the "realism" issue in the game.

                              I'm with ya dude.

I was aiming more towards the 15 in the game and the comment of it being slow. Being an E it is more likely to be nailed Air to Air. (Useless side note: The F-15C is the only plane in the world you could stand on its tail and it would take off like a space shuttle, also it can gain speed while climbing vertical)

I think the J-10 is a bit out of hand, but as I posted earlier in this post. G-Forces would level the play I think.

My mistake, I didn't see that J-10 reference, however I still disagree with it. If you'll try a J-10 versus J-10 dogfight in 1.21 it is currently perfect dogfighting mechanics. AA missiles hit, but not if the pilot is in the apex of a max turn with good airspeed. It's very balanced dogfighting. Basing the new flight model off anything less than the current J-10 will render the airplanes impotent, and dogfighting far too easy. A2A missiles are absolutely perfect in regards to J-10, and that's something I'd like to preserve.

However, be aware I did not ask you for some alternate solution to completely rework all of the AA again. Of course you're well within your rights to post it, but it's a little ways off the focus of the thread.

And I also agree, infantry need to be part of AA superiority net, which they are currently. Playing BF2 is like a game of monopoly. As you capture those points you lay down those luxury hotels (AA sites) and you expand your AA grid. The more often planes pass through a stretch of your property, the more often they get popped.

However don't mistakenly suggest I can attack infantry whenever I want, because that is false. I kill infantry for three main reasons 1) they were next to a vehicle 2) they were at a popular vehicle spawn point 3) they were under a UAV scan/at a flag being captured (all of the above reasons are the fault of the infantry, mind you). Past that I just kill vehicles and airborne craft. Planes move at 1000mph, and unless you've got a 100 inch widescreen projector monitor those little soldiers are tough to spot when they're running through the brush. As such, giving infantry "portable AA launchers without making them a box" would really just be giving them an advantage over a vehicle that is limited to a hardcap of two per team.

To say fighter pilots ignore each other is true of some people, but not all. However if they are, and are playing purely for points, then they're useless any ways. The good pilots, take the other aircraft seriously and deal with them when convenient. Past that, and with such a poor attitude, they shouldn't be wasting their teams airplane resources.
