    Re: ATI users and 1.21

I'm using an X700Pro with the new 6.3 drivers and as usual am having absolutely no problems, in fact, I play all my games on high settings flawlessly, I guess I'm just lucky. But then again, I think I've done just about every WinXP tweak there is concerning ATI and BF2 and broadband.

I would think that give your specs, your issues would be related to the 512mb of RAM and the onboard sound card. You might check out some tweak guides for both PCs as well as for BF2 to see how to most effeciently configure your PC to run the game.

Doh! I need to read things a little closer I guess. So I guess you can ignore that part of my post.

I have the onboard sound as well; maybe we should both try disabling the sound and running the game. If it works than maybe we need to update our drivers or find a version that works. Try a disabling things in combination until you can find the weak link; ill try it when I get back from work.

                          Re: ATI users and 1.21

The game is running pretty much the same for me. I did notice one odd graphical issue but I can't be sure that it started with this patch or if it always existed. The issue happened when I was in a lighted hallway that several tear gas grenades had been detonated in. There was an area around the light source that did not get filled by smoke. The area was a well defined square. I noticed this before installing the 6.3 drivers and haven't run into it since. I'm running the X1900 XTX. I haven't tried the Omega drivers but the 6.3 ATi drivers did boost my CoD2 FPS even higher...

                          Re: Soundcard Troubles
A friend of mine had an on-board soundcard that was causing some odd audio issues. He replaced it with a SoundBlaster Audigy ZS 2 and not only got rid of the issues but also gained about 10 FPS. Personally, I got the X-Fi Fatal1ty card and noticed a jump in FPS as well. Now if EA could resolve the silent-fire bug, I'd be good to go...
