Re: How did he do that?

Sad part here is, that it is only an effective tactic to those that are not thinking properly.

In order for the person to hit you (ie the person crouching behind a fixed object) they must first line you up in their sights and just fire and crouch very quickly over and over. The Easy way to defeat this is to...... MOVE! Dont crouch or go prone, as that allows the enemy to just pop up and down. But rather if you move, the enemy must stand up for a period of time (though this could still be short, but yet never as short as the bouncing of the crouch attack) to regain you in their sites. So, either move and wait for him to pop up. Run (pansy), or RUSH EM! (my favorite)

    Now, go take em down!!!

Ohhh yeah, the "crouch" button. (you can tell I use that a lot)

Anyway, I didn't mind this guy doing it because he didn't do it *exclusively* or up close while engaging anyone out in the open. (now those guys I consider "lame")

      Thanks.

Yeah, I tried the "go prone and try to pick 'em off while popping up" tactic...I should have MOVED.

        Lesson learned.

I've seen people do that in this and previous patches.

The trick to nail them is watch the name tag. Get your crosshair right on him. When he's hidden it will be low, but, once the name tag pops up, start shooting and it'll hit him even if you don't see him.

I've done this with a sniper rifle and it's possible to take them out.

Only problem I see with this is... How do you just keep popping up and down "in the blink of an eye" effectively with recoil. Obviously you exaggerated that a bit...

this is called , playing with lag, lol .

when you see him popping up , he is probably already down, there is some delay, server can't handle delay, shows you some flash of the guy, before you know it, he does it again and shoots you

Re: How did he do that?

I can't believe so many people would be smacktard enough to call this a valid tactic!

It's a cheap exploit, pure and simple. Anything you do in BF2 that significantly bends the rules of reality like this is cheating. And don't give me some crap about "but there's lots of things in BF2 that are unrealistic". Battlefield 2 isn't perfectly realistic, but the purpose of the game is clearly to create a somewhat realistic and fun simulation of modern warfare. Crap like bunny hopping, spawn camping, and this exploit all go completely against the spirit of the game. I don't care if the rules don't say anything about it, the rules obviously just haven't caught up yet.

Learn to use actual military strategy and tactics to win. That's the point of the game.

Woah, whats wrong with crouching behind a sandbag and standing up to spray away?!? happens constantly in movies... its perfectly valid in the game!

Re: How did he do that?

It sounds like this person is simply snap shooting. Instead of snap shooting out the side of your bunker, since you can't lean in the game, the person is snapping out the top of his or her bunker. This would be completely idiotic if we were playing paintball, but seeing as how this isn't paintball and your hopper not being exposed like crazy... Snap shoot all you want over the top of your bunker to give you that advantage.

Another skill you can use from paintball in this game is laning. If you see a person run behind a building like he or she means business, odds are pretty good that he or she will be running out the other side of the building, too. Have a stream of bullets, instead of paint, waiting for that player as he or she runs back into the open on the other side of the building.

                          I hope you're joking.

If not: what's wrong is that in the game you can be up and then down again in .0001 seconds AND you can shoot accurately while doing this at very long ranges

When you're a sniper like me you're SOL. If he doesn't spot you, he can keeping popping up to look for you for hours. You can't hope to get him when he quick stands, and rushing him will surely get you killed. When I meet someone doing this, I've got no choice but to retreat and hope I dont get shot in the back. It's really lame.

Dont worry mate, i was actually joking, though i ought to have made it more obvious. i've seen it myself, and i agree it sucks to be on the receiving end of. I've done it myself, completely by accident, when my crouch key stuck when i was trying to hide from a pkm. Like a bloke famously labelled it, bf2 stands for betafield 2, but still i'll keep on playing. the servers i frequent, the majority of them are well adminned, and many people there are regulars, always up for a lil banter. We generally dont take advantage of such expolits, and crack down hard on people who do.

In the meantime, until it is fixed, the best bet is either to rush them in a squad attack or simply move as much as possible, try sneak up from a different route if possible.

Your just p***ed that this guy was better tactically than you, i do this move all the time, crouching behind cover, bobbing up and down, this guy obviously knows how to play battlefield, its called taking cover! stop whinning about it.

I'm just curious if we must stand out in the open and shoot each other? I mean I don't see the militery jumping around like bunnies, but I do see them using cover. Heck i do this in paintball, and if the person is stupid enough to stay in one spot for me, he'll be out.

Lesson from all this, move under cover and spot the jerk so you teamates can waste him.
