    How did he do that?

So I was in one of the public servers last night and there was one guy that kept getting the best of me on the ground. I was using the PKM (which I used to use before the patch) and he was always far enough away that I couldn't tell which kit he was playing. You could tell we would spot each other at about the same time but then he would do this "thing" and take me every time....

He dropped behind some sandbags and would "pop" up and "pop" back down over and over. I mean he wasn't "up" even long enough to blink and then he was back down. Not just crouching, because he would completely disappear. I would try and time my burst to hit him when he popped up but he always ended up taking me out.

I figured that the first couple of pop ups were just to set his sights on me and then the following pop ups were the shots but what I can't figure out is how he was popping up and down so fast. I thought the patch made it so you couldn't go directly from prone to standing?

(I'm not complaining about the guy’s technique. He was a good player and "out thought" me in several scenarios).

maybe the sandbags were tall enough for him to crouch behind completely.

I would think that ^^^ has a point. Were you even on the terrain? or was he possibly a bit higher up on it giving the impression that he was going prone behind it?

On single player maps... a lot of the bots have been doing that after the 1.2 patch (Or at least I just started noticing it after the patch. not a complaint. just an observation)

Well the one time that really sticks out in my mind is when we were on Midway and he was coming toward the airfield. He had just come down from the hills and was in a relatively flat section but he might have been a little higher up than me.

I saw him doing the same technique to others and most of the time he would "win". Whatever it is, he's got it down. I looked up his stats and he's got around 63K kills and only 21K deaths since June of '05. And he's played Spec Ops about 500 hours more than any other kit (and only 21k of the deaths came from the "air").

Eh... it's better than the old dolphin dive / bunny hop. Just using cover to protectyourself in between shots.

Actually, I have fallen victim to this a few times myself, but it happened when I was driving the APC and an antitank guy was doing it on Zatar. I would not call it lame in any way shape or form. I wish I could figure out how to do it, it was really impressive actually. He kept jumping up from behind a tin wall and I kept going back with the APC and he kept wasting me. It looked like antitank whack-a-mole. Certainly more skill involved than dolphin-diving. Now THAT'S lame.

eh...its not that hard to understand, nonetheless, do.

He was just behind an object that was tall enough to cover him when he ducked. Once you acqure your target, immedietely set your sites on him, and crouch down. Do NOT move your site (if he isnt moving either). Now just Tap Cntrl and let go and just shoot blind. Everytime you let go you let off a volley of bullets, 2 or 3, and duck down before you can even let go of your mouse.

You're thinking too much. Just do it!

this has existed since the demo. simple, easy effective.

It's not a lame tactic by any means. It's funny how if a tactic works, people start whining because they get killed by it. True, some pre-1.2 tactics were indeed lame (50 ft. C4 chucking anyone?), but taking cover behind sandbags is totally understandable.

I dunno, if you get enough people to complain, we might see sandbags eliminated in patch 1.22 :-P

i know how to do that....what he did is when u r lying down on the ground u can press crouch and u will go right up with no lag at all....with practice u can bunny hop....(the secret is the crouch button)

i have fallen victim to it as well, but i was delighted at the challenge......its not a difficult concept, and ive been doing it since day one.....its actually typical cover maneuver, just that bunnyhoppin/dolphion diving has been removed ppl must now resort to more effective tactic, so u see it alot more often because its easy and effective

crounch and prone does not lag, its no secret...do it quick enough and u have the 1.2 dolphin dive "the worm"

a thing ppl may call an "animation exploit"
