    encouraging teamplay?

I (as many with me) like to think of BF2 to be a team/squad driven game. Unfortunatly it seem that we are in minority among the gaming community. So i have this idea i would like to try on you folks reading this post....

What about giving the best squade in the winning team points x2 as the commander? This would in my opinion encourage teamplay alot.

    Ideas? :shakehead

Good idea kind of, but before the round ends someone could just hop into that squad, even if they have no teamwork and just feed from the points.

In theory, it would work. (though I think it should be on either team, not just the winning team)

In practice, it would just mean that all the jet/helicopter pilots would create squads.

That is exactly what would happen.

Although what I have always said is that to give you an actual reason to win, other than bragging rights, give the team that wins +5 points to every player.

Yes, some people will switch over last minute...but +5 isn't a big deal.

Unless the only way you can recieve, healing pts, revive pts, repair pts is by being in a squad. A lone wolf could only get flag captures, flag defended pts, and kill pts and assists. Just a thought:laugh:

It might work if EA/Dice could prevent Team Switching by players at a particular point in the game. I realize this would be difficult based on the scoring and/or time frame but just throwing that out there.

Or what if the points doubled by the winning squad were only the Assist/Flag Capture points. Since these are the skills that really matter for team play (healing, flag cap, repairing, etc) and are vitial in a squad.

Then just leave the kill points alone.

I'll take it one step further.... How about a minute before the round ends... you get killed and team switched?? all that teamwork score... gone.

                But interesting proposal.

I like the idea..but there should be some way to track who has been in the suad for more than half the round..then only those awarded x2

I dont think the solution lies in giving out anymore points - you have to find a way to bind individual members of a squad together (willingly)rather than as seperate entities on the map with their own agendas . I have my own idea ide like to throw into the mix if i may. It involves giving a full squad who are in very close proximity either a health or some other bonus, it works like this -

If all 6 squad members are alive and together within a certain close radius of the squad leader and the squad leader is a -

Medic - then all squad members receive a 20%(just a an example figure) health bonus.

Assault- then all squad members receive a 20% firepower damage bonus

Support- then all squad members receive a 20% increase in ammo capacity.

Sniper -then all squad members receive a 20% increase in weapon accuracy

Special ops - then all squad members receive a 20% increase in sprint stamina

Engineer - then all squad members receive a 20% increase in the armour of squad driven vehicles.

If any member of the squad dies or goes outside the radius of squad leader bonus then the bonus is taken away.
This would create an incentive for squad play and furthermore and incentive for squads to actually stick together. You could still go lone wolf but you obviously wouldnt get the 20% bonus for anything that a full squad would give.

Obviously this is too much of a change in gameplay for implementation in BF2 , but for a future incarnation of the series maybe?

That sounds like the starting point of a great idea, I like it.

EA (or DICE) were clever when putting in a RPG style stats system. They knew that they could use it to influence the way the game is played. People love gettting points (hence the existence of stat padders), so if we wanted to see more teamwork, we would have to reward teamwork with points. That is why EA added things like ammo giving points, etc.

All you need therefore is a system that rewards working as a team, such as the one I have quoted. However it has to be resistant to exploitation by people such as stat padders.

Coming up with a system that fulfils this criteria is the hard part...

The only way you can encourage teamplay is by stripping everyone from the ability to perform all around well.

This sounds like a good idea in my opinion but I'm just afraid of how this extra reward would be taken advantage of by stat padders.

Yea, good idea, except maybe the sniper should be an exception, since they're more effective in the far back, and ill-suited for the frontlines.
