Re: Why do you join a squad?

I usually watch squad leaders on the map carefully. If there's one who always seems to be getting stuff done and is in the right places at the right times, I'll assume he's not a complete smacktard, and it would be worthwhile to join the squad and help him out.

I don't play in squads as often as I used to, though. Too many squad leaders don't use teamwork or their leader abilities to help the squad. They just play like lone wolves and like having their name in green. A squad leader who plays smart, fights hard, and communicates/works with his squad is a rare thing anymore.

I almost always make my own squad so im not autoswitched.

And I will join a squad so I can spawn in the area I want to fight.

For the company. Good games come with great company. Screw victory and defeat. If I get to play with mature US guys who have a good conversation running, games turn out exceptionally enjoyable.

Well, I join squads for three different reasons.

                1. I join one with a lot of players in it, seeing as they are actually working together. Even better if they use VOIP.

                2. If I'm playing with a few friends, we usually make a squad and lock it, more or less for mobile spawn points because we use teamspeak anyway.

                3. I create my own squad when I feel like being in charge. I wait a little bit, then I start inviting.

I do it for the Voip. That and the teamwork.

Why do people lock their squads. It really irks me when there's a squad that's obviously doing a really good job, and in a really good spot, but I can't help them out. For example, there's two guys in a squad at the TV station on Sharqi, but they've locked the squad and then end up failing to capture it. What harm does it do to let people join if they want?

^ usually becuase they aren't in your teamspeak and do stupid stuff purely becuase your not talking to them.

like when a heli is nearby someone on ts goes "when u spawn on me keep still theres a heli nearby"

then comes along joe bloggs spawns and runs around going " NEED AMMO?" "AMMO HERE" then proceeds to shoot at the heli with his gun.

well done u just got us all killed. thats why squads get locked, but in saying that our squad is nearly always full.

I like to squad up with my friends.

When none of my friends are on, I'll usually join a squad if I get an invite...then I'll see what they're up to and decide if I want to stay.

I STAY with a squad if they use tactics.

Lol, me too. I never notice I got a kill when it doesn't show up green. I guess its because in BF42, I would always add myself to my buddy list so my kills would show up green.

Mostly for a spawnpoint at a good location. You often can't get to the killin' fast enough using conventional spawn points.

Re: Why do you join a squad?

I always make my own squad {WP}, and play with my fireteam (Shout out to, ElButton, Dynagod, SandmanSix, Nooz, RogueSpirit, WildFerret, Lobo7). When I play with my Unit I know they will listen to what I tell them. It's nothing but "Yes sir, Tango Spotted, Get AT over here NOW, Direct point fire there, Surpress" etc. etc. I never have to deal with the public people questioning my tactical decisions.

...although. Somtimes I like to put myself through hell so I will allow public players in; maybe even join their squad. Yet, it always ends up the same. If I'm not in the commanding role, nothing is getting done. It's almost an obligation for me to be Squad Leader or Commander, I'm just good at barking out orders and giving out intel.

VOIP is also a good thing with people I don't know. I use Teamspeak with my Unit so it's never really required then. Unless I'm playing Commander. I'm one of the most annoying commanders you will ever meet. I NEVER shut up. It's always, " Squad leader Three, you have a tango behind the pillar slightly out to the right, he's gunna' press out. Squad leader Two, supplies are dropping on the ridge behind you, back into them for repairs". Seriously, I'm one of the most vocal commanders you will ever meet.

Direct Answer: I join squads for the VOIP, Mobile Spawns, and Teamwork. Also, I try to sit in an APC a good 50m off of a flag and let my team run in and do the work. Very effective tactic. Especially when you're an Engineer and your Anti-Tank sits next to you to help you with Armor/Helo problems when they arise.
