Best Map for New Pilots

I searched and did not find a simliar post....if so just leave the link, thanks.

I am starting to learn how to handle a jet(only two bombs suck) and I was wonder which map would be the best to practice on and what size. I have been flying around in a local IP on Oman and Wake, but I would like to see how I do with firing at other helo and jets.

Also, how do you do evasive manavours such as a loop and figure 8 as I have seen in some guides, but I do not understand the ____/ symbols on the quide. Thanks to all you jet pilots in andvance.

For Planes, best map is WAKE because of the huge airspace, no mountains and long takeoffs.

For Choppers, best map is Ghost because there are more choppers (two attack and two blackhawks). So you always can get a chopper.

I thought Wake was little small until I slowed down and figured how to make better turns I keep getting out of bounds even in practice mode and you are allowed alot of outbound room when you start a local server.

Wake, any day every day for planes. Choppers is different since they are so vulnerable on wake.

For me the two best are Kubra and Operation Cleansweep 64 because there are a lot of targets. The terrain isn't great on Kubra, but the plentiful targets make up for this. There is so many infantry on Wake, so they are easy to kill if you know where a cluster is, but then you risk team-killing if they are in a firefight with someone on your team. There are more vehicles on Cleansweep and Kubra.

Kubra Dam is good when you are trying to bomb in close and then evade away from mountains. this is good for people who want to get good at flying and bombing and evading at the same time.

Just about to say the same thing. This map forces you to dive bomb which is much more accurate than strafe bombing (especially with only two bombs). Both bombing techniques have their places but for providing close quarters air support, dive bombing is.....um.....well......(I can't beileve I am going there)..... the bomb.

I think Sharqi Peninsula is best for choppers, since the only things that can stop you is another chopper and maybe people in stingers, which anyone rarely uses. So you can fly low without much worries and take out infantry

I prefer ghost town for choppers....the heli pad is always close by and not all the way across the map...

i like flyin round in a jet on kubra dam, ime not one of the best or most acompleshed pilot, but ime ony not the best cos of having wireless and crashing 4om laggs. l8tly ive been practacing flyin through the open tunnel at the base of the dam,
tis easy, just need to get the line up right.

2 bombs suck? 2 bombs are enough to destroy any PCO in the game...

gulf of oman, most balanced air to air combat as well as zatar wetlands and kubra dam.

Here's my take on the best flying maps.

My number one favorite is FuShe Pass. Both airfields have decent runways and exit routes, you get plenty of airspace, and you get a pair of jets per team. Also, you can practice with the nearly unbeatable J10. It's the fastest, most fearsome jet in the game. On top of all this, you also get fun obstacles to really test your skill near the US airfield. There are 2 bridges to fly under, and the one closest to the airfield is very difficult to fly through.

Dragon Valley also has tricky terrain near the Chinese airfield. There is a bridge/dam there and if you want to show off, make a pass under the bridge..upside down. :) In the J10 it's easier than you think.


While you may think 'wtf stunt piloting = teh gay', when you get into dogfights with noobs, you can lose them most of the time pulling stunts. I can't count the number of pilots that have missed the nudge at the right moment and smashed into the bridge while chasing me down.

Zatar Wetlands is probably the most underrated map in BF2 also, but the draw distance is horrible on that map. It's just plain hard to find anything in the air to shoot at. Too much fog.

Kubra Dam is a good map as well. Again, you can stunt pilot a little (fly through the tunnel at the base of the dam) but the varying terrain keeps you on your toes. It's not a cakewalk like Oman is.
