Posting computer specs eludes some sort of computer knowledge?

Unacceptable or not, turning graphics down is a good starting point to determine what a problem is. Just trying to offer up some possibilities.

Yeah changing graphics settings does nothing to help the problem.

I am going to have to second this thread. At the beginning of the year I finally figured out why my PC was so sluggish. Now, after the patch, my fps went down to about 20-40. In a 64 player server or 32 player server it still gives me the same fps.

My graphic settings are all med, 2xaa and no shadows. When I turn them down to all low it still gives me the same fps. I have been trying to figure it out on my own but have not come up with anything that works.

I know I have a ****ty processor (amd athlon xp-m 2500+ @2.2) and ****ty RAM (2x512 corsair valueRAM), but the game use to run fine and now it runs like poop. I also have a 73 gig raptor, so my HD should be fine, and a x800xl AGP.

I am currently thinking that maybe I should go ahead and upgrade the RAM and CPU. I am just leery about going to a 64 bit processor. Any ideas from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

Ok first what version of forceware are you guys using? I run the game with a 7800Gt and 2GB ram I don't have this problem at all. Using 81.98 forceware currently.
Second, Death Merchant I'm not saying this is your problem because the difference wouldn't be that huge but 4x512 is not a very good configuration for memory in an AMD based system. Can't speak for the new ATI chipsets but all other AMD based chipsets run your memory at 2T command rate when using all for slots. Just an FYI you may get better performance by going 1.5gb.
I also noticed that the both of you complaining of problems happen to OC your 7800gt quite a bit. I know Deth you said you backed down your OC was that the cpu oc or the vid card or both?

2T command rate really isnt an issue with a sudden occurance of in game lag.

ya im having the same problem im running fine but all of a sudden i boot up and it's LOCKED on like 15 fps the top left shows 15/66.7. I lowered my setting and still its shot. im running updated drivers on everything and my specs are AMD 64 3500+ winchester, 1 gig of Corsair XMS (2x512mb) and my GPU is a MSI 6600GT and it used to be awesome but now LOCKED on 15fps

I'm also experiencing the same problem as dethred. I doubt it is due to my computer configuration. Not tampered with any settings, the only thing which has changed is i applied the new patch.

I am having the same problem. My computer is not the best and my video card is crap but it was much better before the patch.
Asus A8V deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Corsair pc3200 2x512 dual channel
GeForce FX5200 AGP
I have always run everything on low no shadows etc. and like I said it was fine before the patch but now I stay between 10-20fps. I even tried reformatting and it made no difference. There are a few maps that are completely unplayable and others I just have to avoid certain bases. Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Same problem here (as I stated in the post I made earlier). My computer isn't at all hot (well it's good for a laptop), but the game ran fine before the patch; now it's virtually unplayable.

I sometimes get the same as Dethred. I have 2x1Gb Athlon64 3200 (winchester) 7800GT, NF4 ultra etc etc. Even with 2Gb I find my hard disks start flashing about mid game sometimes and this appears to correspond to a drop in FPS. On rare occasions I find the game stuttery even with high fps - not like network lag, something totally different.

Does Punkbuster scan the pagefile during gaming? Has anyone tried playing a few games with their page file disabled and does this affect the issue? What antivirus program do you use? I am struggling to think of what process may be causing hard disk access when blatantly there should be none. Also if you can alt tab when the problem starts occuring what does task manager say your memory usage is? If you go to the "process" tab and select "view" then "select columns" you can put a tick next to "peak memory usage". This will show the maximum memory that each program has used, whilst the program is still running. This could be useful for determining the peak memory usage of BF2 or any other programs that might be causing the problem. As an example with the 1.2 patch I found BF2 was using around 1300Mb memory at peak, excluding windows and other programs.

i get the stutter problem too on 3500+ 2 gig ram 7800 gtx

seems like a memory leak..My PC was up for 3 days no problems...After patch it was dropping to 20 fps and stuttering...

restarted pc and it's now ok

I got the same problem with the lagging, get kicked from ever server within minutes.

Windows xp sp2
AMD 64 3000+(2.0 ghz, socket 754)
75gb wd raptor, and 250gb storage
Leadtek 6600gt
1.5gb corsair valueram
Internet speed: 8mb down and 784kb upload - comcast

I have the setting setup to medium. Installed the other day the newest drivers from nvidia.com. The fps(average(30-35) the still the same but the ping is all over the place 300-700.

I play mohaa(medal of honor:allied assualt) often and there ping there is same as always.

Some system changes I did before the issues of lagging
1. Installed newest driver from nvidia
2. Installed system mechanic and ran it to clean up the system a little
3. Installed alcohol 120%
4. Installed power dvd
5. Installed a us robotics 7902 network card(10/100/1000) with latest drivers.
6. Messed a bit with over clocking the graphics cards.

*note; the other games I play are fine, only bf2 laggs. now I can't play the game I just bought early last week. Couple days ago my ping was in the rage of 60-120 and no higher on any servers I played on.

Any input from you guru's as to how I can fix this issue.
