Wrong, the only one saying that are those who didn't suck ass with AA pre 1.2...

How exactly do you "suck" with AA? You can figure out how to use them within 10 seconds of hopping in, there's not much room to suck. Before they simply didn't work, you could have your copilot give the missile the finger and it would get scared into missing you.
