...If you have SF...and if they fix the crash bug with 1.21, then Night Flight can be a good map - around and in the cargo plane can be a knifing haven!

In vanilla, Karkand's a bit crazy now with the all-owning pkms, super nades and claymores, so try Sharqui - diving over the sandbags of flags being capped and stabbing can net you a kill or two, the TV Station, (if you can get past the claymores), and there's normally snipers galore.

So much depends on the number and type of players in a game, you'll probably have some bad rounds, and then the magic one will come along, where everything falls into place, like medics who ignore you and try to revive the guy you just killed. (three kills, thanks very much.)

Misc ideas:
Kits to use: medic, sniper or spec ops?
Have a friend be a SL, hide near a good location, (eg: near the construction site on sharqui) - spawn, get a kill or two, die, re-spawn on SL, rinse & repeat...
Other maps: Mashtur City - the roof spawn near the Mosque can be a great stabbing ground!

You have to actually be running around with the knife in hand. Yes, you will die, a lot but that is the only way.

I was thinking about that strategy, Blackjack. I'll have to give it a go. I just tried again and got a whopping 1 kill. I had one guy lined up but once again my teammate killed the guy with a gun just as I dove with the knife. ****es me off.

I also had two guys in front of me but they out ran me then turned around and wasted me in 2 secs. I wanted to knife someone for real after that.

It's very frustrating. And whoever said dive, dip, dodge, what do you think the other guys are doing when I'm doing that, only they have guns and can waste me in no time while I flop around.

Yes, it is frustrating. A couple times while I was trying to get it I nearly tacoed my keyboard. It also helps to be a scavenger. Search around, stay clear of hot spots and try to find stragglers and snipers. That one has also helped me get a few for my total. Just keep at it, you'll get it eventually. Just think about that godly drumroll.

i know it sounds ridiculus but wake island is very good for it becuase no one is expecting it and lots of snipers just layign around waiting to get knifed

It's been said before, but pick 64 player servers with not many people on it (I like 16-20) so that the rounds last longer, and you can take your time (for the most part) and you can wait untill the time is right and so you won't have to force attempts that are doomed to fail. I've seen a guy with a knife charge at a guy with an F2000 in plain sight. He got cut down in seconds. Not going to be very successful that way.

Thanks, guys. I'm still downloading the knifing vid so I can't comment on that. I bet it's awesome.

Vid is not very good. The first part played fine but when "Another One Bites the Dust" started the video pauses, breaks up and is overall unwatchable.

BTW, how do you record in 3rd person? I don't really like the 3rd person view, especially since it's a 1st person shooter.

There is nothing wrong with the vid, it doesn't slow down or break up at all for me. Did you actually download it or try to stream it? its like 121Mb so download it rather than trying to stream it otherwise it probably will break up :laugh:

Its recorded from Battle Recorder footage, most is in 3rd person veiw as BR has no 1st person view option which is a **** off. But there are also fixed position camera shots also.

ive got shedloads of knife kills overall but i still haven't got my badge either

I think the best bet really is to join a 64 man server with only say 20 or so people on it and that wya if your lucky the rounds will long last enough to knife 7 people.

just try on every map. just have one of those times where you dont care for anything else other than to knife. so just run around knifing every round. you might get lucky.

thats what i did, and i ended up getting it on a full 64 player wake island. it was on that stretch...between teh china airfield and first point to the west...like where that little sand bag bunker thing is near the satelite trailer. USMC were coming from that point over to the air field, and alot of them were sniping/using support around the AA turrent, so i was able to get them there, as well as snipers that hid in the bushes/trees. i barley got it, was way surprised. :P

That is true. I have only 13 knife kills because of the situation, mostly snipers. UAV would help if deployed all the time, but beware of the stupid shotgun

oh ya, i also just take any oppurtunity i can to knife...even when im not trying to get the badge, because you never know when you might get enough in a round. for example i was playing just normal for fun with no intent on badges or anything, but i someone spotted 2 snipers near me, so i just parked my APC and walked up the hill and got them both with my knife, and then went back on my way.

by the way, it does take some skill to kill with the knife head on...if you're lucky when you pull out your knife so will they...knife fights are always a blast...

Best advice I can give you is don't start counting your knife kills. Just go in and do not concentrate on anything else except knifing. Don't look at the tickets left, your score, or anything else...just knife!

I thought I would never get my basic knife badge, and now I have my vet. badge. It really is fun to knife once you get the hang of it

Good suggestions all around here.

But the biggest one that should be stressed is that it's best to not go into a round Wanting and Expecting it to end with you getting your knife badge. Doing so will end with you being wasted more times than not, not helping your team at all, and leaving the game with a crappy score.

It's better to start getting into the habit of using your knife more often than not when the chance arises. When playing on city maps with close quarters combat (usual being Karkand, Mashturr, Sharqi) if you dart around a corner and see someones back.. knife them. Come across a sniper who doesn't see you.. knife them.. have a person run by you blindly.. follow them along, then when they stop.. knife them... Get into the habit of hitting the 1 key and then clicking when you know you can get the easy "one click kill" and the first 2 knife badges can be easily had at once.

Don't go blindly running into battle with your knife out, as you will be marked for an easy kill. Be sneaky, be stealthy, and don't be afraid to pull out your main weapon and shoot if they suddenly turn around and notice you.

I hate to say I got my final 4 kills to earn my first 2 badges because some Medic noob kept reviving a sniper I had just knifed, as I laid there on top of his corpse. Maybe the medic thought he was going to shock me, but everytime he ran forward and zapped, I would poke with the knife trying to get the medic only to get another knife kill off the just revived player. Kinda sucked to get it that way, but it was within the first 10 minutes of Karkand that I pulled it off.
