Hey guys, I need help unlocking the new 1.2 unlocks.
I'm primarily a sniper and the L96A1 sounds excellent, but I can't unlock it!
I have SF installed, though I haven't played it much recently. Do I need to play 1 entire round in SF before I can unlock the new weapons?
My rank is Master Sergeant and I have every single unlock bar the 1.2 ones. Do I need to wait till I'm at Master Gunnery Seageant before I can unlock the 1.2 guns?
Just so you know, I don't suggest unlocking the P90 unless you're dedicated to the Anti-Tank kit. It's not exactly the biggest improvement over the DAO- though yes, you can shoot longer distances and hit something now, and at short distances- you can spray, and the gun seems stable enough to have all the bullets hit, but it's a bit weak, and still seemingly inaccurate.
The DAO and pistol combination for the AT is still recommended over using the P90.
Go for the L96A1 I reckon... I'm regretful because I wasted 2 unlocks to get to the P90... thought it would be a really good gun, but BF2 kinda killed it for the sake of making the AT weaker.
One question then. Say you uninstalled the SF expansion and are planning to reinstall within the next few hours. Will those weapons still be offered for unlocks without a promotion?
The two unlock slots that people got for "free" shortly before the patch are not actually free. They are the unlocks for Lance Corporal and Corporal that previously did not get an SF unlock. So if your rank is lower than that you would NOT have gotten any "free" unlocks (you'd get them when you reached those ranks) and if you had not previously run SF you would also not have gotten them.
Yes, few days before the patch, everybody was offered an unlock without promotion, or two unlocks if you had SF installed. Among the unlocks that people could chose from, L96 and P90 were available as well. Obviously those were the only available unlocks for everybody sergeant major and above (people that had all the previous unlocks already).
I don't have SF either. It seems that only the folks who shelled out the $30 for the SF get to have the new unlocks.
That's kinda sad.
Until DICE and company fixes the PKM it's a moot point anyways though as the PKM is the only gun anyone needs now (thanks to PlaneWhore for his PKM rooftop sniping video).
