Re: Soundcard Help!!.
Unless you are very, very perceptive, you won't "hear" a difference in your music among MOST soundcards. Audigy SE to Audigy 4? Maybe, maybe not. If you can get an audigy 4 for the price you mentioned, good deal. You really are paying to "hear" the difference in 5.1 games. Music is piped in in 2 channels (stereo), so--again, unless you are very particular, or like specificly tuning your tunes--you will not hear much of a difference among MOST medium quality dedicated sound cards.
You can check this out for yourself, but in my opinion, the soundcard companies come out with new boards just for the people who feel the need to have the latest and greatest. Some of the software tricks that are built into the new chipsets are neat, but the average user will never tinker with MOST of these software/hardware settings and functions.
Bottom line: anything above an audigy 2 will run BF2 (any game) just fine in 5.1 (hardware mode) surround. Audigy 2 zs will run bf2 in 5.1 (hardware mode) surround and movies in 7.1 surround. Audigy 4 will do the same thing, with a few more neat audio tricks. Get it if you can find a good deal like you said.
X-Fi will do all of the above and then a little more, but it is also ridiculously expensive.
There are a lot of reviews online. You should read the reviews before you buy anything. It is YOUR money, and the more you research, the more you will understand and appreciate what your are trading your dollars/pounds sterling in for.

As I've heard they say across the pond, cheers mate.
