I wanted to start a thread for some advanced attack chopper techniques that perhaps some people are using to overcome the patch.
Dont hate us because we fly choppers - I find im good at it and enjoy flying. I like to help achieve the objectives of my team including taking out any spotted armor (although this is rare i ususally spot it myself lol) or capping flags for the team.
Some good tips for a flag cap - although i don't think this should be the primary use for the chopper.
- There is a cool technique by doing fast spins just above the flag that i've gotten down pretty good. What you do is bank the chopper - i use a joystick - and pull up putting the chopper into a fast spin. (not just a hovering level rotation but having the chopper actually flying tight loops basically in circles) The trick is maintaining altitude and keeping the spins tight (and not getting too dizzy lol). This will prevent missles from hitting you and it's tough to shoot you down. Try it out at altitude to practice the spin - i find it works pretty well.
- Obviously, when at a lonely flag w/o much fear from the air, having the gunner hop out will increse your cap time - just pick em up again. Remember the chopper is much more effective with a good gunner.
Also, you prob know this, but...
- Since the patch keep your chopper repaired when necessary perhaps get the commander to drop you a crate off to the side of the map (in the middle) this will help commute time back & forth to the base)
- A good pilot is simply lining up shots for his gunner - keep it steady when the gun is going to be used and line up the missle shots effectively. I think we all know how this is done...
- The best way to deal with enemy choppers is a stand-off tv missle shot. A duel with a chopper can be a waste and your advantage is really lost - try to see the enemy chopper first and hover at stand-off range and let your gunner try a few missle shots B4 goin' in guns blazing.
If you know of some other cool things to try that havent been seen on this forum 100 times - EX: ADVANCED TECHNIQUES - post 'em here - im curious to see how us chopper pilots are coping with the changes in the latest patch and could use all the tips I can get!!!
