    Re: Teamspeak better than VOIP?

myself and another clanmate HAD to use voip about a week ago because our vent server went down for about an hour...let me tell you, it was miserable...another buddy of mine's clan uses TS and he likes it...basically it comes down to preference on which to use, I like vent better personally, but one thing is for sure, once you use vent or TS you will hate voip from that point on

        Our clan prefers Ventrilo too.

used Vent for CS. Loved it. Use VOIP for BF2. Personally, I think it's an integral part of the game to work with your squad IN the game and not have the outside distractions of Vent. Nor to speak in Vent when one of your squad members may not be able to hear you.

Use the game. It's built on Teamwork.

I have both TS and Ventrilo and my clan is using TS now. Either way both are better than VOIP. If you need to be sociable most clans have that info on their websites and I highly recomend it. You will have a way better game and meet some cool people to boot.

Soundquality in both TS and Vent are better than VoIP but VoIP has some benefits..

Ingame sounds get muted when you use VoIP, something that's very useful and squdleaders can speak to both squadmembers and commander (don't know if this is possible to achieve with TS or Vent).

On a low ping server i would prefer using VoIP

                Re: Teamspeak better than VOIP?

I switched to TeamSpeak recently..a friend of mine is hosting a TS server for all of the games we play.

                I love it.

The only problem is that I get this weird echo when we're both talking at the same time

                    Re: Teamspeak better than VOIP?

I still prefer to use the in-game system primarily. I like being able to quick referance the voice (look down, see who's talking), there's almost overhear (important when you're up against the wall hardware wise), and I know everyone in my squad can hear me.

With TS you've got limited communication (only other TS users), a hit on RAM, bandwidth, and CPU (not major, but a hit), and there's no organization to it.

Just to make it slightly more annoying, when I run both, TS killed my in-game speach.
                    Grr.

                    Personal preferance.

                      Re: Teamspeak better than VOIP?

If you are not in a clan there is really no reason to use TS or Vent because you will have no one to talk to (unless the game server is advertising a TS server for use in-game and people are actually using it). The VOIP is adequate at best, TS and Vent are great if you know anyone else on the server.

I've read ALL the FAQs...I'm guessing it's the other guys on THEIR end not set up right

Either that or it is because I'm using a USB headset (xbox live wireless by Logitech)

                        Doesn't bother me much.
