How about engineers priority: taking out enemy armor.

I think that kind of goes along in putting mines in choke points Nanufox.. they are awesome for taking out armor, but they can be used on any vehicle.

Yeah, that is what I was getting at by mine choke points and flags. I guess I could edit that to make it more clear. Thanks

Engineer isnt an offensive unit. Its more of a defensive unit. Nice topic. I advise you to set up role list aswell
"Offensive" "defensive" "Supportive" "Recon" and something similar.

I use the Engineer kit for:

                . Repairing arty/uav/scan
                . Defending flag
. Blowing up armor/transport land vehicles
                . Repairing vehicles etc
. Blowing away infantry camping with the PKM in the Karkand alleyway

I wouldnt include an Engineers priority as asset repair, whilst capable of it you have to get to them before an inevitable supply crate drops. Also its rare to spend much game time repairing the assets. Also vehicle and asset repair are the same thing really, just you dont have to chase a flaming uav trailer down the road.
Engineers are formidable at close quarters and id say you spend more time pumping lead than spanner turning in most rounds.
As for offensive or defensive id put engineer as both, its a great shock troop class great for cqb, but its mines are defensive.

I think the engineer kit is a little of both. Offensive, in that you can get in a vehicle and repair other vehicles in a convoy to go get a flag. Defensive, of course, in laying mines etc.

By a role list do you mean what kits fit into each role like...Snipers and support are more of a defensive role. Something of that nature?

I have thought of also creating a thread or adding on to this one, of top priorities when in any type of vehicle (tank, jeep, apc, chopper, jet).

Main reason for this was to give someone a quick and dirty list for what are the top responsibilities for each class etc. As I play more, sometimes I get into the habit of just hopping around from flag to flag not really necessarily contributing to my fullest potential. As I spawn as each different class, I want it to be clear in my mind..."What is the most effective way that I can contribute to my team winning with this class"

Hardly anyone seems to play engineer, I was playing in a server, had 32 players in my team, I was the only Engineer.

The priorities are not necessarily in order, just a top three.:)

                            Sniper (for me anyways)
                            - booby trap certain areas with claymores
                            -suppress enemys with sniper fire
-finally a personal one - keep the kill number ticking over
-also spot an enemy if my teammate is unaware of him and is doing somehting important eg. capping a flag

Yeah, true...Let me put it this way. The engineer class is the ONLY class that is able to repair the assets. The only thing that usually happens when I drop supplies on my assets, is that enemy special ops use it to blow up more of my stuff :hmm: If engineers would actually repair the assets, this wouldnt happen. I could use the supply drops for healing/resupplying troops and armor.

As a side note, it is TONS faster to just hop in a jeep as an engineer and repair the assets by driving close to them. This lets you quickly get the assets going again, while offering a quick getaway, if you meet up on hostile forces. Once everything is up again, then go back and finish up repairing if you want....
