When you uninstalled BF2 did you go into your "My Documents" folder and delete the BF2 folder? This folder stores your local profile (screen resolution and such) Make sure this folder is deleted before you reinstall. I had the same problem as you have described. I would launch BF2 and it would show a black screen and then go back to desktop, and this only started happening after swapping out my old video card for a new one.

That's true...I thought I had recommended that you do that, but that was another thread I was posting in.

Delete your Battlefield 2 subfolder in 'My Documents'. That may fix your problem. It'll reset all of your graphics, audio, and control options and you'll have to retrieve your account again.

Whilst proberly not relevant bf2 did a similar crash thing when i swapped monitors to a widescreen, command line resolution thing sorted it. Aside from the stored resolution being unsupported by the new screen the refresh rate was also different, 60hz instead of 70hz, had to overide both.

Cant he just delete the video.con (whatever its called) and save the hassle of control assigning?

Well, ill try deleting the BF2 folder in my documents first, do i have to reinstall BF2 if i do that? or can i jsut delete the folder and try to play it?

If that doesnt work, then ill try getting the NvHardpage thing and see if that works.

Ill do it when i get home, im at work now so ill let you know if it works tonight.

No...the files will be automatically created the next time you load BF2.

eVGA makes good cards as far as I know...

well i did the my documents delete thing, and it worked. Except now it times out after 2 minutes because it cant update punkbuster. Whats the website again to get that automatic punkbuster updating thing

punkbuster.com would be a good starting place. 10 bucks says that google would also work.

ok now here is another question completely unrelated. i was on my girlfriends laptop last night, and i created my own account on it by going into safe mode and logging in as the administrator. She has an account with a password and she has administrator privledges. So i created my account with admin privs but no password. Now my issue is how do i delete it without going into her account to do it

Right-click My Computer.
Click 'Manage'.
Double click the 'Local Users and Groups' item in the left pane to expand it.
Select 'Users' from the tree.
Delete the user from the right pane.

Try that.

thats strange, on my computer i can do that and see the user, but when i godown to her laptop and log in as administrator in safe mode, i cant even see the local users tab... and when i click user accounts in the control panel, all i see is administrator, Amber, and Guest account is off. i dont see the account i created at all

yeah, i cant access the local users thing, and when i go into the user accounts thing it doesnt even say its there when it really is
