    Re: Is BF2 Unhealthy?

This is such a stupid poll. Firstly yea it's a baised question as mentioned above. Secondly it isn't BF2 that's unhealthy for you it's your lifestyle choices. If you choose to play bf2 for 11 hours a day then you're probably not getting exercise that you might normally. It isn't the game that is "unhealthy" it's the moderation of it.

i agree but bf2 isnt the unhealthy thing. Gaming itself is.

I think its not healthy...It seems to consume your life, atleast for me, which effect my work outs, work, and social life...Ever since the performance drop I got from 1.2 I have played about 6 hours of BF2 and I do not plan on bringing that number up anytime soon..

I get more done at work
I am picking up extra shifts (More $)
I am seeing my real life friends more
I have more time to be with my girlfriend (she is happy)
I have more time to focus on working out properly and not rushing to get home
        I feel free

No that there is anything wrong with BF2 but it consumed my entire life, I would even play at lunch to squeeze out extra points :)

LOL, Ah EVE. That's one serious game, mow muck of that 70 hours did you spend mining Huge asteroids in a ****y little ship! I played till the end of the trial and was just about getting used to the controls. I didn't continue, probable for the same reason as you, but that and W.O.W. are very deep and time consuming and generally don't test your gameplay skills as much as something like BF.

In all honesty i can say that Battlefield has stopped me buying PC games (Non BF related) and pretty much killed the rest of my game collection (bar the odd Q4 blast).

                  Re: Is BF2 Unhealthy?

Course it's unhealthy becuase your not really active when playing a game on the ps2 or computer or whatever. (most of the time, lets forget about all that dance crap for now)

Only positive thing i can think about is reaction times and stuff. But then again, fast reaction isn't mainly the case its more or less who has the lower ping + better fps + better monitor time reaction or whatever the hell it's called. Only if everything is similair does reaction come into use. Even then all your doing is pressing some buttons and clicking, hardly usefull. (Don't give bs that it would help in real life becuase a gun in real life requires the movent of many muscles compaired to clicking a mouse, i wont go into detail but/becuase you know what im on about >_>)

                    Re: Is BF2 Unhealthy?

Battlefield2, just like any addictive game is NOT HEALTHY

                    I work from 8:30 to 5:30 everyday
and my job is to make sure all computer ressources are up, running and secure.

I get home... I should go to the gym, work out and poor... no more stress.
Nope, I rather get rid of my stress playing some minde blowing videogames.

And overall, I think that a game like bf2 stresses me more then anything else... specially after it crashes or lags out for no reason...

                    Videogames are not healthy.
BF2 is less healthy then the other games due to its poor coding and the frustration it can bring people.

then again, the worst one of them all is WoW
NOW THAT IS INTERNET CRACK, people will lose all social life to play WoW

                      Re: Is BF2 Unhealthy?

Yes and no. It is if you are very adictive and cant stop playing it. But it is not if you are able to stop playing and excercise or study for school.
In my case it is inbetween, i would rather pl;ay bf2(sometimes i do) but i dont want to fail school. Because that wouldnt help my plan of UWF and the ROTC program. So thinking about my future is what helps me balance it.

                        Re: Is BF2 Unhealthy?

I'm surprised to see so many ignorant opinions about gaming from gamers.

BF2 is a game. It helps you have fun, unwind, socialize with other players, enhances hand-eye coordination, critical thinking, and foresight. It's only unhealthy if you make it a priority over other things in your lives - i.e. become addicted.

Just balance BF2 with everything else and it'll be a good influence.

well you can sport wether you play (BF2) or not it has nothing to do with that... well the CRT is realy BAD for your eyes, but in overall if you enjoy it it takes care of your mental well being

eating carrots is healthy unless all you do is eating carrots.

I managed to get invited to a corp and get a huge infusion of cash which just made me play more. So basically I spent most of my time mining asteroids in a ****ty big ship or sitting in a space dungeon getting free experience while people with even bigger ships killed enemies.

I quit when I realized that I was just mining and killing enemies to get a bigger ship to allow me to mine faster and kill bigger enemies to let me get an even bigger ship... That and assignments were starting to pile up and I was turning in stuff half-done.
