    Is BF2 Unhealthy?

The questions Is BF 2 Unhealthy? A game that requires you to play for many hours sitting down on your bottom. People play hours on end everyday, but lack the exercise to keep themselves healthy. There are those who work all day and deserve to sit down and play but considering that most people who play are kids. Kids who go to school sit for 6-10 hrs, then comes home sit doing homework, and then sit playing BF 2 trying to get that 4,500 hrs for that nice shiny ribbon. Now im not making fun of anyone im 17 myself.

It is. I know I am older and it has effect my college school grades. I know most people say, just put the game away which I did for a month or so. Then giving myself a break I played one sat and the entire process just repeated itself again. I will play for 4-5 hrs at a time! I guess I just have a very addictive personality.

The more interesting question is - is gaming unhealthy? More than likely, if BF2 hadn't been created you'd be sitting on your bottom playing some *other* game instead. :)

It doesn't require you to play for many hours, so it's not unhealthy. It's your own choice!

I'll confess to 11 hours yesterday which cant be good for me, nothing better to do but there is a knock on effect in alchohol intake, caffeine intake and nocotine intake required on such an extended stint, it does go beyond just sitting infront of the screen.
It does effect my work when ive stayed up for just another round but to balance that ill stay up late to see the end of a film/program, i hate work anyway.

I would say that BF2 is more unhealthy for the puppies I kick every time I lose a round. But I'll be damned if it doesn't relieve stress. Though lately I've been going through a lot of puppies, I might have to start buying them in a baker's dozens every week.

Yes it is very unhealthy----People don't have a lot of time--and time you can spend in the gym is usually eaten up by gaming--after I put on 30lbs,. I wnet back into the gym to shed it-Gaming is great-but like everything it has to be done in moderation

Not to mention the stress level that is involved.

A buddy of mine will literally be SCREAMING on Teamspeak when he starts to encounter problems in a match.

                          Re: Is BF2 Unhealthy?

It's no more unhealthy than sitting in front of the telly all night watching soaps,(at least that's the argument i use with the girlfriend) which is what most of the UK population do after work anyway, but yes i totally agree an 11 hour stint can't be good for your health (or your back, shoulders fingers etc...) I played for a few hours the other day and noticed how cold my mouse hand was (we should really have heated mice by now!) and my fingers on my right hand revert to the holding mouse position when i relax them!
It's also the most unsociable game on earth. 5minutes in and tunnel vision ensues and the hours fly by. (and it's not like you can press 'escape' to respond to a 'suchabody did this at work today'). My girlfriend says it's the worst war film ever on perpetual repeat, and it's becoming an issue!
But (every cloud etc...) we as a community have the finest reactions around, and if it ever came to real-life computerised warfare i know we'd all sign up and with a constant supply of spliffs, brews and pizza (or chinese food) we would pwn the world!!!11

yes, I am the same way. As you can see in my stats how long it took for me to reach where I am at. 4-5 hours was an average day for me. I also had school, my last two classes of my Batchelors degree and I finished with a 3.9, while playing BF2.
