For you squad leaders, do you use the Insert key, or do you pull up the UI and manually create a squad?
If INSERT is set to create a squad, why isn't DELETE set to leave a squad. You don't know how many times I've been in an area, say I'm taking a flag, and I"m on teamspeak with 5 of my clanmates. I need to create a squad so they can spawn on me and help me cap the base. Well, I can't leave the squad I'm in to create a new one unless I leave my current squad first (trying to create a new one will bring up message that says "You must leave your current squad first"). So, I bring up the UI, taking up all my screen and diverting my attention from the battle, in an attempt to leave the squad and create a new one. Well, while my attention is not in the battle, i get shot!!!!!

So, my suggestion would be a DELETE key to leave squad, then INSERT to create squad. Boom, in 1 second u have a new squad created and your clan mates can join on you and help cap the flag, or destroy the tank, or whatever. I can't believe there's an INSERT without a DELETE.

I agree with everyone else that a quick leave squad button would be a nice feature. Many times I have been invited into a squad and forget I'm already in one, so now I have to pull up the spawn menu and find the squad I'm in then push the leave button. It would be much easier to press DELETE to leave like SirCyRo-iNT suggested then all I have to do is press page up to join the squad I was invited to.

How do you guys call for supplies and what other things can you do as a Squad Leader or even just as a Squad member?

          People do it so they:

          1) Won't get autoswitched
          2) Can request supplies for themselves.
          3) See green text in the upper left corner, which is easier to spot (so you know when you killed someone with say, an AT mine).

It rarely has anything to do with teamwork or squadplay.

            Do people use it alot?
Do they use it so they can be a squad leader?
Or do they use it so they can be in a squad to help the team?
Would it be better if there was a quick join squad button?

            Other thoughts?
I see the "Maximum number of Squads reached" message all the time, so I suppose this is when peeps are hitting the create squad button, when squad list is full?

As variable says, its usually those reasons that theres a Squad Leader and no squadies. I do it all the time but never use the create squad key anymore, just the main squad menu as its one of the first things to check out after joining the game.

The quick join squad button is a nice idea, but through experience, squads dont always like you joining without being invited :hmm:

Also, why would a Squad leader be unhappy if a guy joined their squad? If they were holding spots for their buddies, OK, I can see that, but otherwise, the more order following guys on the team the better! Don't ya think?

                Re: The "Create Squad" Button

I just hit the "Insert" key, which creates a squad. Because, EVERY single game, if you are a squad member, and ask for supplies, it doesn't happen often that your Squad Leader request the supplie target, to the Commandor.

Totally aggree, I used to join up all the time in the beggining, but now only create my own or more often than not wait to be invited.

Take yesterday for example, I was invited, so joined gladly, 10 mins later I notice someone else join, they leave quickly, then it happens again with someone else. I'm taking for granted that they were kicked because they weren't asked to join the squad, not saying it's right or wrong but i'm betting it happens a lot.

Best feature I've seen was a server that had an auto-kick for people not in a squad. It would give you two warnings and then you were gone.

Horrible feature. What if I am a Sniper off guarding an area alone, or a Spec Ops trying to infiltrate to destroy assets? Do you want me in a squad taking up a slot for no reason?

Why not... if that squad needs help you can help them. You don't HAVE to be a sniper the whole round. Seldom is it the most productive thing to do for the team anyways. If you are a sniper in a squad at least you can communicate with people and let them know what you're doing, where enemies are, etc.

Or tell them, hey I'm going to go run in the enemy base and take out assets. Doubt they'll hang you for it, I know I wouldn't mind. Maybe they'd even help you!

Let the player decide if he wants or needs help, or he is in a position to help someone else. I know that if I'm trying to sneak into an enemy base to destroy assets (an ongoing mission that the commander need not tell me to do) I don't want other people spawning on me - it makes us easier to spot visually, and looks juicier on the Scan/UAV.

Nevermind that forcing squads is a completely superficial requirement. I've often been in squads where the members run around doing their own things anyway.

If people want teamwork they'll work as a team; usually that means joining a squad but it doesn't have to. If people want to do whatever, they will do it regardless of whether or not they're in a squad.

What they should add is a little setting/button that automatically creates a squad of your desired custom name so you don't have to type it out every round. That'd be a really good idea, says I.

Anyway, I only squad so I don't get autoswitched when playing with my friends. I use the "Create Squad" button in the squad screen thing to do it.
