crashes to desktop

in all the time i spent on 1.12 I cant remember one crash to desktop. but since 1.2 ive been getting them here and there. But just today ive gotten 3. As far as i know its only me also. Like if i get back into bf2 fast as possible. lots of people still have normal scores.

What seems to occur.

It freezes.
The sound from the game. starts to do a flicker back and forth quick sound.
It then crashes straight to desktop.

I cant find any error in the Event Viewer. So its not likely my computer doing it.

anyone else happen to get this?

I have, and I put it down to the new patch. I've crashed to desktop twice, in a flash. After a map loads up and I've gone to join, I crash (no cache) straight back to the desktop as if I'd never turned the game on!

Ah gotta love that patch.

:wall: I also have a lot of CTD since 1.2.

I was so sure that is something wrong with my configuration so I formated the HD, reinstalled everything again updated all the drivers and guess what... NOTHING WAS CHANGED still have a least 3-4 CTD per day :wall:

Guys, I had a similar problem,
A quick idea for you, not sure on your specs, but I was having similar problems, went into bios, and reset memory to default memory timings, and now I have no crash to desktop issues.... weird I know as my memory is stable as hell. will be getting in touch with corsair, and giving them a piece of my mind, probablyy the piece that I lost whilst trying to track this problem down :S grrrrr

i dont even have memory timing options. i got false advertising on MSI mobo i got.

but all i know. its not my computer. if there is any sort of software or hardware failure outside of the game's range. its logs. and i get no logs from when i crash.

Ive been getting a lot of ctd's latley. I thought it might be a hardware problem but everything I have is new. Its gotta be the patch. Not saying I dont like the patch, but that is a for sure disadvantage.

Ive got it too...once every hour or so...just CTD like the game was never executed...and has gotten worse since 1.21 ...*sigh*

Yep... I tried the 1.21 twice... once yesterday and once today. Yesterday I froze and had to reboot, and today I crashed to desktop. Fun.

If you have an Award Phoenix bios, on the main screen when the bios loads press control F1 the memory settings are hidden by default this will load an extra option.

Only one CTD here: map was loaded, I clicked to join, screen goes black and moments later I'm looking at my wallpaper.

No error message, no BSOD type crash, no clues what happened.
And I have no changes to my memory timings/clock speeds on CPU/GPU, so that isn't the source here.

Of everything else I ask this computer to do, from the high end games to the mundane image viewing and web browsing, *nothing* has caused me the kinds of problems BF2 has, so I feel confident its the game/patches not hardware.

I too have experienced crashes to desktop, the most recent one a couple of hours ago. I had none before patch 1.2, approx 6 with 1.2, now 2 with 1.21.
There have been no common scenarios, seem totally random.
Like others have reported, no signs of hardware problem as I have plenty of headroom on all specs.

These crashes are frustrating indeed, but maybe beneficial as they prompt me to take care of "real life" issues. haha

Same for me, some days I have no CTD, others I have it every 15 minutes, all since 1.21 patch. Here I thought the patch would be great, but now it sucks.:hmm:

I am still experiencing CTD ever since 1.20 and 1.21 patch. I tried everything and still CTD frequently. I then installed BF2 onto a different Windows in a different harddrive on the same computer. Still CTD.
