    Clan or Not?

My point of view so far has been that by joining a clan I'll lose my identity and originality. When I play with members of a certain clan for example, I never look beyond the 2 or 3 letter prefix those players have. For me they are all the same. Maybe I'm wrong. Can everybody give me their input what you think the advantages and disadvantages would be when you are a clan member, and when you are not.

Being in most clans would require some level of commitment. That be the reason i dont join one.

Depends on what you want from the game really..

Some people like to play wars for example and a clan is perfect for them.

Other clans are social or just made up of friends that enjoy playing together.

There are several different types of clans. Some clans are just buddies that got together, came up with a name and play together. Those clans are pretty loose, and not much commitment is needed. And if all you want to do is play on public servers with your clan buddies, having fun, then those clans may be suited for you.

There are middle of the road clans that are more structured, but still a bunch of guys having fun. Again, attendance and such may not be required, but encouraged. You'll learn a lot more in these clans than you do in the above clan. But because of the lack of commitment from members, organization will sometimes be frustrating.

Then you have clans that are well organized, have mandatory practices, and a lot of experience. My clan is that way (TAW - sorry for the plug! ). In these types of clans, you will learn a lot from your clan mates. You'll learn to play as a team, with specific objectives and secondary objectives. Winning the game will be more important that the stats you collect, but the stats will come as a by product of winning.

When I played Halo (PC), I was against joining a clan. I didn't see the need for it. I could hold my own as a lone wolf in Halo, usually finishing in the top 3 every map. Then I started playing BF2 and realized that teamwork is needed, and being a member of a clan was the easiest way to have teamwork.

if you want to enjoy the full potential of BF2, join a clan and play in leagues. i guarantee, you will never go back to pubbing. you have no idea how enjoyable and intense the game is when players work as a team to achieve goals against an enemy that is also goal-oriented.

Yep there is nothing quite liek being in a sucessful clan, playing BF2 on your own is good, but playing it with a whole team of skilled individuals all communicating through TS and watching the awesome enemy chewing machine that is guys working together after hours of practice is just incredible. Clan vs. Clan Scrims are just fantastic, especially when you win!

And since people are shamelessly plugging clans =TAW= rocks!!! (Trans-Atlantic Warfare not The Art of War).

I've been invited to 3 or 4, and have the same issue as you. But at the same time I want to play with a team, because pubbing can be annoying, especially when you get the troop of idiots tking you for vehicles etc.

You should have included a check box for those of us who are in a "clan" (i mean use the clan tag) but its just really a bunch of friends who get together and play every so often. but not really for competition just for fun

I prefer to play whenever rather than in a clan.

I've gotten offers like some of you. One time some clan was like "Hey you're pretty good. Wanna join our clan?"

Me: Thanks for the offer but I decline.

*You have been kicked. Admin decision.* XD

Never been in a BF clan, and probably never will.
I do play on some clan servers though regularly.
