I am a managing admin for our 64 player ranked server,and I (like everyone else) have been on both sides of the base -spawn raping that can and does go on in bf2, when your on the rapER side ,your laughing and talking smack and have that God syndrome,and when your on the rapEY side you have to fight back the urge to kick the entire opposing team ,restart the server,write EA,and call your congresman.
So the moral of the story is ,if you dish it ,you have to be prepared to take it. EA/Dice made it part of the game,so just deal with it.
There are settings that server admins can apply to offset unbalanced maps,ONE, they can engauge the auto balance ,TWO they can run the maps in 2 round sets, and after the first round, switch the entire team to the opposite side.
And we practice what we preach at =AWOL= ,Our server message is as follows " If EA allows it so do we,dont B*tch -fight your way out"

if it is NOT forbidden by EA, then ranked serves CANNOT forbid it
even though many do, they are in VIOLATION

Base raping has different forms
our 'rule' is you must be active
1. try to cap flag
2. steal vehicles
3. keep moving
4. if flag is non-cap - and it is the last one standing
well - KILL KILL KILL
the one thing we NEVER allow (Spawn camping)
ie sitting still and having your aiming reticle on the actual spawn point - this is too abusive of competative play
no matter what flag you are at, or how many are left

EA has a set of rules that are to be enforced to everyone, everywhere. They also have a set of rules that are optional to server admins.

"Base Raping" happens to fall into the second set of rules.

To me, it's not a matter of whether or not it's allowed to baserape uncappables. Rather, it's a factor that can and does hinder one's enjoyment of the game.

For the raper: Isn't it more fun to kill someone who's fighting back? Kills where the victim has little to no chance of fighting back seems "cheap" and ultimately becomes boring soon thereafter. (imho)

For the rapee: It's certainly more fun to get a chance at coming back. Being constantly drilled into the ground by jets, choppers, apcs, tanks, artillery gets old really quickly.

Thus the reason I play on MoonGamers exclusively. They don't allow uncappable baseraping (Oman server, btw) and generally there are almost always admins present who keep the smacktard level to a minimum. I feel like I enjoy the game a whole lot more because of this rule.

But if you're the type who likes to "dish it out," more power to ya. Just don't expect me to be on the receiving end. I've already paid my dues to the spawnrapers.

War is hell. Baseraping sucks if your the one spawning there but I really dont understand why so many places frown upon it. Yes its frustrating but if its a war then treat it as such.

Are you suggesting that a computer game should be 'hell'?

It's a quote. I don't think he was trying to start a philosophical discussion on Dante's "Inferno." It's a war game. If the server is not going the way you want, and the otherside is just baseraping, find another one. It's not like there's a lack of servers out there.
