Weirdest thing i've ever seen... and it made my system crash

Last night I was playing on a server (the name had blackops in it), and basically for a few rounds a squad kept snding their leader straight into the enemy base using a plane to spawn his whole squad there. From there they usually attempted to stand their ground and kill the spawning until they could have all the planes. They did get them. And they made one über bombing run on our airfield. And my system crashed as my cadaver was taking the last bomb.

Anyway, i have this question: I thought base raping was forbidden on ranked servers... On this server the opposite had become standard... Is it normal ?

Servers can create rules regarding spawn camping and/or bombing uncappables.

Most servers actually allow base raping, and it is in no way forbidden by any ranked rules.

War is hell. Baseraping sucks if your the one spawning there but I really dont understand why so many places frown upon it. Yes its frustrating but if its a war then treat it as such.

It is not forbidden by EA, but it is legal to forbid it on a ranked server. It's an option.

Personally, I think that if EA was really concerned about it, there would be some kind of bot or design feature in the game that would prevent base raping on their own servers.

It is annoying when say on Wake Island your on the last spawn point and the enemy keeps bombing your base over and over, your only options really are to try capture another point, use the Stinger/IGLA or disconnect.

i think wake kinda sux in bf2, in bf1942 everything was nicely ballanced for this map, now its just simply not...

Yesterday MG Mostly Oman server had a map rotation going on for a few hours. When we arrived at Dragon Valley, I spawned as USMC and grabbed an F35. I flew straight for the PLA airbase, parachuted out, tried to take the flag, but got killed.

Back on the carrier. Both PLA attack choppers are circling the carrier deck with guns blazing. An APC that had taken the base right next to the carrier is continually firing on the Essex AA to keep it down. Both J-10's keep bombing the carrier. USMC never got one base that round.

How is that fun for anybody but the PLA pilots/gunners? Once you're on the receiving end for an entire round, it get pretty old and you realize the whole "no baseraping allowed" rule makes the game a lot more fun for everybody.

Don't know why you guys didn't head below decks to escape the bombardment. Work as a team and get some AT and Support guys to drop the choppers. Even if someone wanted to make a run for it in a boat for a distraction, you could get something in the air and try and cap on the mainland. If all else fails, call in arty just off the carrier and hope it drops a chopper or two.

We had a real winner of a commander at the time who started the round by sending artillery to our carrier TK'ing the majority of people on the deck. We tried to coordinate a few boats to provide a distraction, but they ended up dead quickly from the enemy APC's just on shore. Soon thereafter, the enemy had neutralized our artillery further pinning us down. The best thing I could do was hop into the secondary Essex AA gun, but the physical location of the emplacement is next to totally worthless on Dragon Valley. I did manage to down one of the J-10's a couple times, but it was too late to make any difference. That pilot ended the round with 75 kills and 3 deaths all due to carrier raping.

And then the fruitcake even had the nerve to say that he was "owning us." Whatever. Next round was Oman and he didn't do so well with his F35 versus my Mig-29. :)

Ok, i see some of your stories are much worse than mine...
I just thought the server without the base-raping rules was ok until i was the one getting killed continuously for a whole round or two. Anyways i'll just change server when i see it happen... simple as that...

even though many do, they are in VIOLATION

Base raping has different forms
our 'rule' is you must be active
1. try to cap flag
2. steal vehicles
3. keep moving
4. if flag is non-cap - and it is the last one standing
well - KILL KILL KILL
the one thing we NEVER allow (Spawn camping)
ie sitting still and having your aiming reticle on the actual spawn point - this is too abusive of competative play
no matter what flag you are at, or how many are left

Actually, arty and bombing runs can be prohibited by server admins. It's one of the few things that are optional in each server. See the link for the entire rules list.

"3 LOCAL (PRIVATELY RENTED) RANKED SERVER RULES MODIFICATIONS

These are rules that are not enforced upon in EA’s public ranked servers but may be modified in privately rented ranked servers. These rules are decided by clan administrators for those servers and as long as they do not contradict any global rules enforced by EA are considered valid for those servers.

This would include but not limited to:
§ Artillery fire or bombing runs on main (uncapturable) bases may be prohibited.
§ Prolonged or sustained attacks on main (uncapturable) bases (i.e. spawncamping).
§ Using the Transport Helicopters to take flags (Blackhawk whoring or flag hopping).
§ Impersonating clan members.
§ Using C4 on jeeps, or other fast moving vehicles to take out other vehicles.

My experience is that most servers actually don't allow baseraping in their rules, although how often its enforced is another question.

War is hell. Baseraping sucks if your the one spawning there but I really dont understand why so many places frown upon it. Yes its frustrating but if its a war then treat it as such.

This is not war, this is a game. But funnily enough in real warfare there are rules such as the geneva convention which are set in place to avoid the needless massacre of human life.

If anyone behaves like that on a server just QUIT imediatly and play else where, its not worth giving the base rapers the kills.
