We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.

Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
BF2SF is getting a bit of a cult following.
I'm not sure what it is about this expansion, but its really addictive.
The maps Surge, Ghost Town and Mass Destruction for me are the best 3 ranked maps going in the series so far.
Throw in the 3rd dimension you can reach via grappling hooks and zip lines and you have a kick ass expansion.
Yeah its got problems, video lag in chopper sometimes on surge and mass destruction (thats on a top end machine fx-55 sli gtx7800's) and the odd crash now and again, but if it gets ironed out i can see this expansion lasting a while yet.
This chap speaks the truth! Ghost Town is a fantastic map. Lots of secret areas, ability for infantry to conceal themselves, but also for the vehicles to do their stuff.
I don't like SF better than vanilla but i do like the additions it put into the game. Also when i bought SF it was $30 and i think that's over priced. It should be in the $15-$20 range. Maybe $25. It isn't bad though, i do like it.
Once they've ironed out the 1.2 bugs I might go back to it. Pre 1.2, it had such bad performance that a lot of the time it was just unplayable. Now add in all the bugs of 1.2, and you've got a broken expansion.
Anyway another problem with SF is that it lags a lot more than vanilla, as i said though, i don't hate SF but it isn't super great either. I like the additions to BF2 and the new tactics that can be used in SF.

I'd like it if the players were smarter. Defend the dam on Surge? Why bother, let's all stack the front two points while we're taken apart from the inside! Who needs commander assets and an attack copter anyway?
I bought the SF expansion on the day it was released. All I can say is what a mistake...
I installed it and left it on my system and fired it up. Within 2 minutes I thought "this sucks" and left it without playing it for 2 months. I thought "Oh well, that's £20 down the drain. At least I got some extra weapons."
Until 3 weeks ago. I got bored of playing vanilla and I thought "Oh what the hell, I'll just see what it's all about. It'll make a change." After that, I've prefered SF more than vanilla. More points, more action, less waiting. I love SF!
I'll add a nod to SF. The extra mobility that zips 'n hooks add makes for a very cool infantry dynamic... especially when you're playing with people who know
to emply them effectively. I'm still not a big fan of night maps, but the 1.2 tweaks to night vission have helped out quite a bit. For that matter, the staic mesh opts have made a noticable improvement to my preformance.
The crash bug, BTW, is related to the TOW mounted on hummers. As soon as you fire one, you crash the server. That's a very big DOH and a sign that the beta testing was not handled/organized effectively. There's no way such a large bug should have slipped through.
Heh, I forgot about SF. I got tired of it because of the massively bad performance problems I had (that I wasn't getting in BF2) but I also forgot that 1.2 was supposed to have that static mesh related performance increase and that night vision got fixed a bit.
I might give it another go, although it's more annoying playing on unorganised public servers-you can't find anyone around to get good teamwork going with zip lines/grapple hooks!
I bought it the day it came out and probably haven't played more than 5 rounds on vanilla since then. I think it's far superior to the original and i don't understand why more guys don't have it and play it - particularly the ones always complaining about plane whores and nube toobers.
Also, I've had ZERO - read that ZERO - performance problems with the game.

I'm guessing that you've either got lots of or very fast RAM. Static mesh loading was the issue. Before, I could play very effectivly as long as I didn't look at anything new. As soon as I moved into a new area and new meshs came into view, I'd get a perty impressive *CHUNK*.
The same has always been true in standard BF2, but since there's nowhere near as many meshes on those maps, it wasn't as big a deal.
