How can I look up my BF2 CD Key?

Im about to reinstall the game (I cant join any PunkBuster-Enabled servers because apparently my punkbuster is off and ive got no idea how to turn it on..), but I cant find the case with the manual which has the CD Key. Any kind of program (such as a key changer which displays the current cd key) you guys know of which could help? I tried the default CD Key changer in the Support folder, but it doesnt display the old key..

I also tried the regedit way listed on the page, and the value for the file is hidden (so they must have encrypted it in a patch?)

Yes they encryted it. Apparently if you take that encrypted value and talk to EA they can decrypt it for you. I don't know any more about the subject than you, though, I just read more in that thread I linked.

Umm to enable punkbuster you have to be playing the game.

So since you can't play the game unless you have the cd key I don't think thats going to work.

Plus shouldn't it be on the back of your manual anyways?

There is a little check box next to the punkbuster icon at the bottom of the in-game server browser. Make sure it is checked

I just looked through all the menus in BF2 and I dont see any "enable punkbuster" option.. All this stuff happened after I installed XFire to talk with a friend..

To enable punkbuster go to the multiplayer screen (the one with the server listing). At the bottom sandwiched between GameSpy and PunkBuster logos is a checkbox to turn on PunkBuster. Pretty bad UI design if you ask me...

Yeah it already is, but im quite sure thats for searching for PB-enabled servers.

I can play the game, but I cant play any servers with punkbuster (as i need to turn it on). I wanted to reinstall the game to hopefully reenable PB, but i cant find the manual..
