Re: Version 1.2 update = Nasty Lag

Well I tried everything suggest and just did a complete reformat and I am still getting lag and I don't have an ati card. My pings are somewhat higher but not as bad as others. We have two guys in our clan that went from pings in the 40s and 50s to over 200 and can't even play. I warned all the members in my clan that EA was the only company I knew that could take something bad and make it worse.

Oh yea just for the record its not system related.

Running water cooling so its not a heat issue.
      P4 3.2
      2gb DC PQI Samsung Memory
      Audigy 2 zs sound
Nvidia Evga 6800 ultra also on water
Abit Max 2 mobo chipset on water
      raptor HD on crack

        #1. Delete your cache (my documents\battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache)
#2. If that didn't work, delete your whole my documents\battlefield 2 directory
#3. If that didn't work, uninstall BF2, install from scratch, install the full v1.2 patch
Thanks for the suggestion. I did all of the above, but the lag problem remains. Gonna hang out for 1.21.

1st - there are new omega drivers out, catalyst 6.2 or somethin like that, so you should probly get those.

2nd - maybe run your res lower, I run mine at 1184 x 864 or whatever that setting is, but you might wanna run it at 1260 x 1024

          -just suggestions-
I tried the Catalyst 6.2 drivers, but they made no difference with BF2, and in fact caused problems with another 3D sim, so I went back to 5.9.

Reducing my res made no difference either.

          Thanks anyway.

I didn't know that punkbuster was something that needed to be updated. I assumed it came with BF2 (shows how much I know about online gaming). Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

i cant play the game right now because of this. The game is a jerk fest thanks to the update.

I have WOW to console me in the meantime but EA better sort it.

I did a full reinstall. Reinstalled this way:

                  BF2
                  BF2SF
                  Patch 1.20

Same problems. I hope they fix this or get rid of the perfromance boost because the game is unplayable.

Same here. No joy. My trigger finger has been so itchy lately that I've resorted to Star Wars Battlefront II. Not quite the same. Everybody moves real-quick like, like ants. It's not all bad, but I miss BF2.
