The MEC spawn away from the hotel trying to re capture the bases being taken from behind them

The USMC capture all the spawn points except for the furthermost back base
Fighting breaks out between the bridge

    Ohh.. fun!
You need to play somewhere else! Any MEC team that knows anything about playing the game will have Engineers spawn at the Hotel and lay mines along the side roads. They'll immediately blow both bridges at the back Gatehouse flag and mine/C4 the water bridge ramp access. If the tank is in my squad I move it out to the Train Accident along with the rest of my squad. We hold the Gatehouse, Train Accident. If the Commander is any good, he'll order a squad to the Suburb to protect it. If we hold these three bases, we win. Of course doing this requires communication...headset with mic takes the game to a higher level.

The problem is the point macking that occurs at the first flag. When people play forward defense for MEC (myself included), the scores are easily ten times what they would be if the player held back. One way, you're a smart team player. The other, you get a ****-ton of points and have a blast. If I'm just goofing off online, it's often VERY tempting to just whore it up with AntiTank at the front, playing peekaboo with the USMC vehicles.

Now, personally, if I get in at the start of a match, post 1.2, there's a couple of things I do: (this is for the 32 player version, since I like it the best)

1.) Spawn at Gatehouse as Engineer.
2.) Place three mines on or near bridge.
3.) Place two mines in the water at the base of a ramp.
4.) Run to the fight to kill and get killed, since I don't want a suicide and don't like being engineer.
5.) Join the battle where needed.

The problem with Karkand is that either a good USMC team will whoop an equal MEC team, or that most good players jump on USMC. I'm not sure which yet, but the amount of times the MEC team refuses to accept tactical reality is atrocious. The USMC will backdoor, and the MEC, even after not defending, WILL NOT counter attack. They'll just keep fighting up front, ignoring Marines taking the Gatehouse, Suburbs, Market, and even Square. Worse, they refuse to field a suffiicient Anti Tank force, and keep spawning as snipers/support/medic at the Hotel, when all they have to fricking do is spawn at the Square with an Eryx and pop the sumbitch tanker. Yes, this happened recently.

It's even worse when I'm commanding (for either team).

ME (over VOIP): "Alpha Squad, the suburbs is undefended. If you could hook up through the side route, you would open up a backdoor."

Alpha SL (not on VOIP): No Sir.

ME: "Bravo Squad, could you divert from the Hotel to take the suburbs?"

      BSL: No Sir.

ME (on Teamchat menu): Form Squads, Team.

      Random People: No Sir.

ME: "Alpha squad, the Hotel is in no threat. There are forty people defending it. We are being backdoored, and we need to stop it."

      ASL: i want pts

ME: barely stop myself from calling out ASL as a nitwit over the channel

      -later-

ME: "All squads, the enemy is moving in force towards the gatehouse. I count an APC, a Tank, a Humvee, and small change infantry. Are any units available to divert?"

      Chorus: N-N-N-No Sir!

At this point, it's really tempting to misdrop arty onto my team.

AARGH! This is why I rarely play commander.
