Also many commanders like to hide in the enemies backyard. Its the last place your gonna look for the commander (your own homebase).
Yep! When I play commander I am hiding out in the enemies noncap base or on their carrier..

I can also take potshots at their planes and use the zoom function to watch my own back.

Yeah me too. If i cant get a multiple targets with my arty, im not gonna let it sit there. I find the ennemy commander and BOOM. Usually he wises up after a few death but sometime the comm is just dumb and he doesnt find any cover. Then it becomes funny as hell.

Ya, if I have no real good targets for more arty because of friendlies in the area or whatever.. I will send the occasional shot to the enemy commander or a suspected sniper camping out on a hill.

I play commander quite a lot. Come and get me.....please.

Don't forget that a commander will know exactly where you are and where you are going, especially if you're heading in my direction away from most of the direct action.

I hate when that happens. I play mostly Oman map. T USMC carrier is the worst place for a commander. The idiots on the ship rarely look out for enemy sneaking on the ship so I always get killed as commander.

It's really frustrating as a commander when you see the other team attacking your assets like UAV and artillery. As commander you spend all your time trying to repair those assets with supply drops. Add into it spec ops trying to kill you and it gets even worse. That's how teams win, and that's how teams lose. Lots of people haven't figured that out. Instead they are standing around waiting for choppers and jets or running from point to point. I was gunner in a chopper the otehr night when some MEC spec op was blowing up our artillery. I saw it but I don't think the pilot did. Instead he was showing off his flying skills by flying in circles around a flag even though there was no enemy about. The artillery was just off to our side. I wrote him a message but he completely ignored me so I never got the chance to take out the spec op blowing up our artillery. It was maddening.

Killing a single commander wont do much, 15 seconds of commanding doesn't determine if you win or lose. You should support your ground troops or better yet, order them to destroy his assets.

I LOVE guys like you, you guys helped me get a couple of my (6) expert combat badges, & countless medals

I learned to aggresively protect my assets, because you usually don't get any help, but that's OK, because a kill, is a kill

& those Spec-Op guys never give up

Arty 35 guys, & kill 5 guys attacking you, & your asssets = 40 kills (you have been recommended for an award)

I PUNISH dudes that go after my "toys"

I use clays too but if they get passed that, as they have, you are left with your silly pistol in a close quarters combat situation. I have lost that battle a couple of times. The pistol is no match for a g36.

As for camping out in enemy territory, are you nuts? One scan will give you away.

but assuming THEIR commander is doing his job, when doing a scan he should notice that the lovely red dot you're giving off isnt a christmas tree light and come knife YOU!
Then you just wasted all your time trying to cross the map to their base.

IMO, the best bet is to not stay in one place for too long....camp out in one place for a few minutes then move around....that way they're less likely to suspect you as being commander.....maybe just a sniper or vehicle whore.

                          Re: Hunting The Enemy Commander

I hide like crazy when I'm the commander. On Wake, for example, I sit in the front Phalanx on the Essex (nobosy uses it, and the pilots barely attack it). Usually I do try to kill the enemy commander, it's good teamwork to decapitate the enemy.

One time on SF, on the Mass Destruction map (I think), I was commanding from the weapons factory and got into an arty duel with the enemy commander. The doof didn't get the point that I had a roof over me so kept wasting all his arty on me to no effect! Gotta love that. Of course we won...

Also you have to love the commanders who fly! It's banned on our server for good reason, you're useless, completely useless, to your team when you do this!!

                            Classic...

I always laugh when you cap the Warehouse flag on the Delean Plant map and the arty starts raining on the roof...

I rarely play commander as I prefer the immediateness of the straight up combat but when I do I have to say I like to stay a little mobile and indoors. Like a sniper I like to relocate every so often just incase anyone has spotted me...

Hiding in the enemy base sounds like a good idea, but I would have thought it put you in danger of being picked up if the enemy commnader was checking for Spec Ops...

Yes I hate commanders that do that too. I got my expert commander badge a long time ago, so I really don't like being commander anymore, but a lot of commanders are just plain stupid and worthless so then I'm forced to be commander just so they won't. A few games ago, I had a commander that simply would not UAV or drop supplies. He probably did two UAVs the whole game. But that's pretty rare, but it happens. The more common thing that's equally annoying is a commander that doesn't spot enemies.

A commander would have to be pretty crappy to get killed by a lone soldier sneaking up on him. I know I'd see you coming a mile away and will probably be ready to either shoot you or drop artillery on you.

I have seen some commanders that are completely oblivious to their surroundings. One game, a commander stood out in the open every time just staring in space and all game, I'd spawn at the base and kept seeing a car speed up and drive into him. It was funny as hell.

Completely agree. I don't command often, just enough to get the basic badge honestly. I like to fight. BUT, I've yet to be killed by anything but arty while commanding.

Funny story: a few days ago I played on a random server and the commander was a private, could not speak or read english, and flew a jet the whole time. We couldn't even mutiny! Oh that was fun....
