The worst thing about this censorship is that curse words can be in the middle of non-curse words. Just like HaVoc.uK's cockpit.

Yeah but I've been kicked a ton of times for that, they have caught on, alot of servers have ''no profanity that includes abreviations or shortened versions''

I once put $h1t and the admin kicked me for trying to bypass the swear filter, lame.

                  Re: Punkbuster 'language filter'

In Rakion: you can write f u c k and the game delete your entire phrase
In othre games the word is being sobsituted with ****
In other games nothing happens (and this is the best thing)

I don't understand why the game kicks you for swearing ...

That's not a problem for me that i'm italian .. so

WTF Punkbuster want from us? It should be concentrated in avoiding cheat not learning players how to be polite ..

I'm for it. There's nothing i hate more than people whining on the server when they get pwned.

If i want to vent and swear, i'll do it on the Ventrilo server to my clan mates :)

                      Re: Punkbuster 'language filter'

im against it.personally i dont mind the swearing.(nothing i dont hear or say on a daily basis IRL) it is pretty lame that some need to type in vulgarities but is worse they can get kicked/banned for it. imo saying n00b, or PWN3D is much more aggrevating.

I read first post and and agree. F**K YEAH! Now, I've forced myself not to type swears. And I'm pretty darn good at it too, but then are are the extreme moments. Still, BF2 has helped me increase my patience of control of tongue. EXCELSIOR!

                          Re: Punkbuster 'language filter'

I think this filter is absolutely retarded myself.
I completely agree with the people that think it should be a client controlled filter. Just look at some of the MMORPG games out, the user can control what level of swearing they get to experience.

The problem here is the EA knows its the 12 year olds doing most of the swearing, so like our government thinks they are doing, EA is protecting the 12 year olds from themselves. :) LOL

This is all we can do now.
Timmy: [yells] Holy mackerel, Mister. You scared the jeepers out of me.

well maybe not, they may have picked up on mackerel. LOL

To finish, this filter would do nice with a can of gas on it and some form of a fire source applied to it!

One of the responsibilities of being an adult is protecting 12 year olds from themselves, otherwise they'd never live to reach 13.

                              Re: Punkbuster 'language filter'

First off, the language filter is handled by BF2CC. BF2CC uses the PunkBuster software for kicking, since it gives you the reason why you got kicked.

I think a language filter is fine, but it has to be changed as to how it works. Instead of aggravating users by kicking them, it should simply replace the word with asterisks (*). Nobody gets kicked, nobody gets offended.
