i totally agree with rombaft. just as the normal stats are ruled by losers with no life, these are ruled by stat padders and cheaters.... hardly better.

so far, the only way to determine skill is to play either with the person on your team, or against them to determine skill. for me its been very effective this way.

          Re: Performance based rankings...

Yes, http://www.statpadder.com/ is unorganized/sucks/failed. There is hardly a FAQ page... But you can blame that on lack of resources such as time, hardware, and money. I know because it is my site, LOL.

Otherwise, it would have alteast EA's active top 270K players (top 45K + submissions are listed)

This is the problem with only mentioning the ratio's and not the time, in a short period you can always perform great, with some luck, your actual performance based on ratios must be looked at on a large time scale, then it counts .

nice try, but failed if you ask me
I am pretty sure you never played BF1942 and checked BFTracks.com's stats, if you did no offense. This is what the rating system is based on. Except 3/4 or the weighing for KDR and KPM are based on small-arms stats. While 1/4 are from vehicles. Artillery kills and any commander points accumulated are excluded from the calculations.

That guy (63333113) is not #1 for anything, that's just sorting by KDR, but he has a very low rating of ~345 vs ~2900 for #1. He is not even assigned a position (he has a "-" which is basically unranked). If you are referring to the Overall Rankings, you can tankwhore on Karkand all you like, I can guarantee that your account will not be #1 because 3/4 of KDR come from small-arms weapons and 1/4 from vehicles. Also, you will need to max out flags points/min, KPM (as infantry too), and teamwork points/min.

Even on Karkand (yes, I know it can favor medics) there are restrictions on the amount of teamwork points/min that are applied into the calculations. This goes for other factors which have certain maximum amounts which will be counted.

this guy is also in top 5 points a min, clearly a big stat padder looking at favorite victem and enemy .
First of all, all data is from EA, you can blame EA for creating such a genious ranking system. I assume you are referring to

          http://www.bf2s.com/player/43457686/.

Again, you sorted by one of the headers which does not mean he is #1 for anything. When you see #1, #2, #3, #4,#5,etc that is the order of the ratings, not just sorting by kills, KDR, etc. [uKc]LethaK-Fr obviously has a glitch in his account. If you look at BFHQ or bf2s.com. It will say the same thing. This is why he is unranked at the site. If you look at the Unranked/EA glitches section you will see why he some others are unranked.

The data is based from playing on ranked servers, just like BFHQ, bf2s.com, bf2tracker.com, bf2player.com, etc. Not sure what you are saying, but SuperResistant_FRA, Codeseven.Osk, and [I]Ramzi are just very good players. Just because it's statpadder.com (yes the name is gay/absurd) it doesn't mean they are actually statpadders.

rombaft: I appologize if the site you some confusion, I should have finished that FAQ page a long time ago, LOL. You are focusing too much on knives and pistols. What matters is the # and rating on the left side of page. Is it more fair to sort by quantity of kills. That is basically what EA does except the BFHQ's overall leaderboard is based on accumulated global score. Or in EA's kit, weapon, or vehicle leaderboards the players with the most kills are on top, but don't necessarily have a descent KDR. Basically, the players who have the most points are on top of EA's system, nut not necessarily the most "skilled". I am not saying that the site has the most skilled on top, but there is a difference in quality of performance from the top 10 at site and EA's overall top 10.

I think anyone here could care less about those stats then the real ones.I have played with some of those people from the top infantry before and never seen them in the top while on the other hand, some of them are actually pretty good. But most don't even play 64 player servers either where they would be raped in a sec but instead play in much smaller servers where the lower ranked players are generally.
Karkand is the most popular map...EA does not provide any SPM, KDR, etc on a certain map using a certain weapon or vehicle. If things where done the way BFTracks or gametrack.org for bf1942 then this may be possible (not for weapons or vehicles). However, as stated before, there are certain maximun amounts which are counted towards the final overall rating. Not sure about the "real ones", you must mean EA's accumulated score based overall ranking system or accumulated kills for kits and weapons. Something interesting comparing #1 and #2 from EA's overall and #1 abd #2 from site

As for maps, I would need to do an additional query for maps for every single player. . Alot of memory is needed to generate the rankings, I would need to buy more RAM and another motherboard that supports higher amounts of memory. Basically, too pricey and too much work for having no time for some map stat that doesn't haven't any valuabe info besides which maps a players plays.

.:iGi:.U.G.H.: thank for bringing up site here and some other forums. Any yes, inactive players will no longer be listed.

Keep in mind it is just a best effort ranking system out of my own resources without expecting anything back. I tried to pitch a ranking system to chuy at bf2s.com at the end of August, but I never got a response. Supposidly, he is creating a ranking system there. I probably should have pitched or developed a partnership with one of the million other stats sites that simply repeats what EA provides. Otherwise, the site would probably be more organized and look better many months ago.

As for the non-existent PIDs, that will be fixed this weekend along with live ratings for new and listed players (certain limits to restrict stress on stats server).

I totally agree with you fella stats are nice to look at but in the end there totally useless in telling you how good a person actually is. My style of play is totally crap for increasing stats to be honest if i take the AT kit all i do is go hunting for vehicles all round. If I'm in an attack Helli i don't go raping the crap out of a spawn point i go hunting for vehicles. If I'm in a jet i go hunting for other jets and if i actually see a vehicle ill bomb that . I don't go round in a jet totally raping the crap out of a spawn point. Basically i try to play for the team id much rather have the win than a really high score at the end of a round.

In total i have 955 wins 864 loses now that not to bad considering i don't team swap i don't quit if i join a server and theres only a couple of minute left in the round and my teams are guaranteed to lose no matter what we do (i cant be arsed reloading and verifying it takes way to long IMO). Out of nearly 2000 rounds I've only ever joined a server that's at the end of the round and going to win it maybe 10 or 20 times vs hundreds of times of a guaranteed loss . You get were I'm coming from though there are so many things that players actually do on the battlefield but get no reward at all for or even hardly any points for it but so vital that its done for the team (example defending the TV station on sharqi so bloody important but you'll probably end up with only a mid table score at the end of the round if you do it.)

NOTE: sorry if the post is disjoint i did have a nice story in the middle but i deleted that because i tell to many of them and people are probably getting sick of them (i cant be arsed rewriting it).

                    Re: Performance based rankings...

Did you even read how it's worked out?

                    It's not on top scorer!

Ratings for the "Overall Rankings" at this site are based on BF2 player performance rather than accumulated global score. This includes flag points per minute (35%), KDR (25%), KPM (20%), and teamwork score/minute - flag points per minute (10%), and playtime (10%). KDR is capped at 6.0, KPM is 2.0, TSPM minus FPPM is .75 , FPPM is .50, and playtime is 3 days. Playtime is used to reduce ranking system exploitation.

These weights are similiar to BFTracks.com rankings for BF1942, however, infantry weapon kills account for 3/4 of the weighing for KDR and KPM, while vehicles account for 1/4. Artillery kills are excluded.
It's combat AND teamwork based on the ratios... not top scores.

How would you suggest a players skill level could be assessed?

Im guessing thats aimed at me and to answer you simply you cant there no way to tell how good a player is by any kind of statistic. Simple example for you i sit my arse down at a KEY flag and decide to deffend it on my OWN the only action im going to see is when people come to attack that flag. I could be there all round and only see 5 people those 5 people all come at me at once simple laws of attrition applied im going to get my arse handed to me. So at the end of the round ive got virtually no score because ive seen no action hardly and my k/d ratio is crap because i was seriously out numbered. Another thing for you to think about is a tank users someone that sits on a flag and rapes the crap out of it gets a realy good kill death ratio and a realy good spm. However you get tank users that activly go all out to kill the enemys tanks (like me) they have a much lower spm and kill death ratio because there not raping the crap out of a flag. Who's the better player in that situation the guy that rapes the crap out of the flag or the guy that stops a flag getting raped stupid ???. To me the only stat to take into account is time spent and all time tells me is how experienced a player is not how good they are. Like someone else stated in another post only way to know if someone is any good is to actully play with them and see what there like in game. And even then it would have to be over a period of time (people have good runs and bad runs).

EDIT: Actuall ive got aqueston for you when you working out K/D are you taking into account things like artillary deaths, plane deaths, BH mingun deaths, tank deaths, Apc deaths. Those are stats id be realy intrested in reading up on and the only reason i think EA/Dice didnt include them was becasue people would get so ****ed when they found out how much they get killed by those things all the time ingame.

Multiplay war games must have a scoring system that rewards teamwork, and punishes deaths, and lonewolfing.

Favorite victims are taken into account as well as best round. Unranking at site qualifies as favorite victim IAR > 75 and B.R. > 1000. 75 is pretty still high, but keeps things cleaner. See the "Unranked/EA Glitches" section

http://statpadder.com/cgi-bin/bf2r.c...t=nick&start=0 unranked players sorted by nick.

If you look at the overall ranking top guys, having an 8 or 10 favorite victim count is legit. Pistols and knives don't mean anything, that is there as a resource. What really matters is overall ranking. Is there some particular players you are referring too?

For KDR/KPM kills from vehicles and infantry weapons are only taken into account. 3/4 of weighing for KDR/KPM come from infantry weapons, 1/4 for vehicles. Artillery kills and scores are excluded. SPM alone is not used because bonuses as commander are included. However, teamwork points/min and kills/min are taken into account. If you die in a vehicle, that will show up as a death in that vehicle. So basically apcs and BH are included. There is no perfect ranking system, but EA's overall isn't performance based.
