    New class ideas?

Anyone have any good ideas for new future classes for any bf2 sequals? Given the same near-future setting for the battlefield series -Ill start off with a few . . .

Recce/intel class is basically the eyes and ears of the commander, whilst also providing targets for aircraft.Equipped with -

Target designator which can provide a much earlier lock on for fighter/bombers.
Field videocam - can place a small videocam down which is then relayed back to the commander.
Tracking device to place on enemy vehicles/aircraft - this can then show position of vehicle to commander.

    Special abilities -

Able to dress as the enemy for a short duration, say 30 seconds?
Able to give mortar targets to defense engineer class(see below)
    Armed with silenced automatic rifle

Defense engineer class Acts as a defender for bases by being able to reinforce traditional base defenses with additional equipment, but can also go on the offensive with short range mortar.

Barbed wire and sandbags - Sandbags absorb bullets/give cover whilst barbed wire denies access.
Trip wire explosive Spans a short distance, anti personel only.
Armed with mortar which can be fired blind or alternativly with co ordinates given by the recce/intel class.

    Special abilities -

Able to operate base Anti Air and Anti Armour sites with increased firepower.

I'd like to see an anti-air class along the lines of anti-tank. Give him a man portable SAM (which so many armies use now) instead of an Eryx, Sraw, etc.

With the improved AA of 1.2 that would be a bit much. Maybe with the 1.12 AA it would be fair, but.... then no one would be "AA class" because they'd never hit anything.

The thing about AA is, if it is going to be as good as it is in 1.2, pilots have to know where it is. Mobile AA is okay because it can only go so far from its spawnpoint and is rather visible. However, a soldier with shoulder mounted IGLAs is not very visible and would pose a HUGE problem for pilots. That coupled with static sites and mobile AA would just be too much.

            Revamp of the Engineer Class
Right now, the Engr is basically a pilot/driver. Why not give the engineer the ability to deploy/undeploy one anti-air or anti-ground weapon. It would take ten seconds to build, five to un-build, and would allow them to redeploy static defenses such as IGLAs, TOWs, and SAWs. This would really make the game more dynamic.

A team could build one emplacement on a 16 player server, three on a 32, and eight on a 64. These could be destroyed or deconstructed by either team.

Kills gained from His emplacement would give one teamplay point.

on the face of it a good idea but when your down to main base only your know what will happen ? ALL the tows n lglas will get set up very near the main base and youll be stuck in there with no way at all of gettin out.

                Re: New class ideas?

The commander can already see all the action he wants simply by zooming in, so the videocam would'nt offer anything new, same as the tracking device, he can scan then zoom n spot.
The Target Designator would be a good addition if it showed the targets on screen of Jets/Choppers, even when they're out of view, like the other side of a hill.
3 specialist items is too many, as recon he would need to be fast and lightly armoured, carrying around all that kit would slow him down and if it did'nt people would complain that it should.
I doubt we'll ever see a silenced rifle in Bf2.

Well, you could quite easily make "nobuild" zones for each team. IE: The Americans could build the TOW in their uncap in Karkand, MEC could NOT. Also, if the MEC tried to choke the Americans, they would simply be sniper bait for the massive wall o' snipers on the ridge.

                    Re: New class ideas?

Most of the recce/ designater skills suggested can (or could such as designator) by snipers who are trained to do this in reality as they often observe enemy targets for long periods. As for engineer DICE could look into that maybe and allow him to build things like machine gun nests tho dont see a need to create a seperate engineer class

                      Re: New class ideas?

The intel recon class you were talking about is already there. Its called the Sniper class. I think instead of Engineer it should be Technician. He should be able to do much much more.

Definitly think mortar would be sweet. Although sitting next to a supply crate with GL or grenades is just as effective.

Special Forces expansion is ****. They need more silenced stuff. It really doesn't remind me of any special forces. Its like the regular game but in dark. If they waned to make it special forces they would have objectives like taking out leaders and stuff.

I also believe that there should be limits to the number of classes. So on a 64 player server there would only be 4 snipers per team. This way strategy on the position of snipers would be used.

good idea in theory tho in practice you'l see a lot of idiots hogging the positions

                            EIBOON CLASS:

The Uniform is a bright orange jumpsuit, with a yellow helmet with a red flashing light on it.
As a member of the EIBOON class you will not be able to join squads.
The jumpsuit will not have a parachute.
When you get killed your kit drops, and turns into a claymore mine.
                            You will have two weapons.
                            MGL-MK1 - Holds 6 nades.
Flare gun, to signal your teammates you need more ammo.
Scissors will replace your knife, but the sprint key will be disabled when using this weapon.
One of the side effects of being in this class, is that if you go on the flight deck or airfield, you will be catapaulted into the water, a annoyingly long distance from the ship or airfield.

Your commander using a new feature will be able to assign you ride on the UAV to assist in reconing the enemy. While on the UAV you will not be able to pilot it.

I would like to see along the lines of a covert ops class....kind of like a spy....can steal enemy uniforms and such. I guess the spc ops is kind of like that maybe they could give that ability to him

Also may an airborne infantry class.....make a flag where the only way to get to it is by parachute...might kind of neat.
