Since i dont play bf2 very often i always try to plan in advance what awards i'm gonna try to get (no not by padding but by proper gameplay).
Tomorrow i'm finally going gaming again and i've been thinking about the Purple Heart. But i cant really decide if its a good award or not...
I mean... Getting killed 20 times on purpose seems very stupid to me and you cant really get this medal without stat padding. And i dont like stat padding...
Can i hear some opinions about this? And please dont just try to defend yourselves if you've already got it? Is this a very cool medal to get or is it just a lame thing that people with tiny stats (like me) use to fill out their medal space?

And please note that this is a flame free thread.

Are medals so blindingly sparkley and hypnotizing that you have to ask yourself if it's bad to have 20 deaths in around with a craptastic k/d ratio?

well I have family that have multiple purplr hearts, most of them not alive now..

I would like to of seen someone tell them it was a dumbass award

BF2 Purple Heart is not the same as US military Purple heart. Did I miss something? Did someone minimalize a real life Purple Heart commendation in this thread?

I was doign really crap and got 2 of them lol, I don't care what medals/ribbons/badges/points I have, games are meant to be fun, not a mad rush for who's the l33test!

I got it by defending a helipad in Ghost Town from two Hinds with anti-tank. It had to be done, so who cares?

The purple heart is a REAL medal, given to people for bravery and stuff like that. To me, a medal is a medal, no question. Anyway, if you have got other medals that prove you are a good player, noones gonna see the purple heart and say "haha he's crap", because you will have the gold star and stuff

I got mine during my first week of playing Bf2. At the time, I was a virtuoso suicide medic, and for some rason, I even even ran into artillery barrages to revive.Perhaps I watched too much Band Of Brothers at that time... It took months to get a decent K/D ratio after this stage finally ended. Its definately not shameful, it shows the learning curve

I never came close to getting it even when I first started, and my intention was never to get it. Then one night a few weeks ago I was getting bored in a server and was just messing around doing a lot of stupid things, like gunning in a chopper for a friend the first time he tried to fly in multi player. Anyway I wasn't paying attention at all and then all of a sudden I'm awarded the Purple Heart. I laugh every time I see it in my stats now.

i have the medal and i didnt try to get it, it was just a reallllly bad round. Anyways i want to get all the medals so i was kind of happy when i got it but at the same time i was saying to myself how can i suck this bad i never do. But i have all the medals and ribbons that are reachable by my gaming standards.
