Thus, the missile has an idea where the plane is on its "tracking screen" but since it reacts with a delay, pilots making evasive maneuvers will have a chance to break loose. Basically, a missile "ticks" the plane position, the plane makes a move, but the missile follows that move just with a delayed time, so if a pilot makes a move, the missile follows him, and if a pilot makes 4 fast sharp changes in its flight pattern then although the missile records 3 of them, but because of teh delayed reaction to every planes move, the missile will lose the plane on the 4th turn, numbers are brought in as an example. I think that this will leave a window open for the "circle evasion" after the circle evasion has veen performed for a longer period of time.

    Thank you for the explanation.
Either something is not right or I am not getting it!
The way you described it is almost the same as the current tracking system in the AA. They acquire a lock every 50msec and adjust their positon to the new acquired position.

This forumula here should predict whether or not, the deviation drops, for the missle to the air combat, and also can predict the fall set of the plane to air deviation.
Im curious, please try to explain just a bit more. I dont understand a thing, sory.

Theres the cookie. They start adjusting their position with a delay. How much? This could only be done via various tests.

EDIT: Also check the pics, I drew something up to make it visually more clear.

I checked your drawings and they clarify a lot of things. thanks a lot. However, I still need to verify with wargimp if that is what he meant or not. As you said, this model has a problem with the AA speed. those missiles move very fast. you wont have a time to make two circles... or whatever.
I was thinking that an AA system with prediction capability will be a good one. it will be a smart system, but you should still be smarter: you make the system think you are going one way and go the other just a though! we really cannot make a judjment on a system without putting it in a test.

Another note: no matter how smart/balanced the system is, human beings will always be smarter and fool it sooner or later. After a while the people will learn how to avoid it and we will go back to the same old problem.

The problem with "smart" system is that there will be 100% obvious bugs that will be used. The simple the system stays, the better and effective it is. In game fo course. I hardly believe DICE would turn it into a sim with millions wasted on AA vs Jet situation...

Definitly the humans brain has billions of cells to break those few lines of code.

This has nothing to do with "outsmarting" the missile, but rather making notes and observations of the missiles behaviour and after that use the same old trick to evade the missile. Like sharp turns in 1.12.

That is what I call "outsmarting" the missiles.... to some extent.

Dogfighting was a competition of maneuvering and outmaneuvering and it was ALREADY a competition on who got behind whom first. But that alone didnt grant the victory. From PWs video (Thanks man, great song and wonderful comments BTW.) I could see that he didnt even BOTHER staying behind an opposing jet. He just sat there for as long as it took for the missile to lock on, let loose and bam, he went to search for a new target. This system is pathetic to say the least. I personally dont want a fight for a first missile lock, I want a fight of skills. Reality? Dont bring it in here, its a PvP game where skills must matter the most.

Anyhow, great video PW, mind telling me what that song was? I giggled as soon as the video started up.

PS. Notice the only reason he used the MG was to cook up that dead bird.
And of course.... poor chopper pilots... hahahaha.
                      Yeah i 100% agree man.

Well atleast the AA on the ground you have a chance. Once the plane or Seawiz fires all its missiles at a helicopter your as good as dead. Same with the linebacker. Anything with more then two missiles consider yourself a dead man. The only reason the Mounted AA guns aren't as bad is because if its only one of them you can either get hit and fly away to repair if a Vodnik or APC doesn't manage to get a shot or two off, or you can go take that gun out. However on maps like Dragon Valley where the helicopter is always going to be in range of atleast two AA guns you really have no chance.

As for the video in the video you can even see the missile having a weird turn on it. You can't tell me in real life an Anti Aircraft missile would spin around your plane engine 5 or 6 times before either hitting you or flying off and going into the ground or the nearest other heat source. Thats a glitch/bug that needs to be fixed. I'd say weaken the AA little and remove as a few of the AA that are close in range so that one helicopter pilot isn't dealing with two or three Anti Aircraft missiles locking onto him from two or three different locations. Even making it so that the missile is actually required to lock would make dog fights better... Atleast you'd get a chance to try to do a manuver and get the plane off you. That and make it so that every 2 Missiles theres a reload period.

I like the idea of repairing more people need to play engineer other then just people who get in a tank and park next to each other to repair while taking hits. I think if someone just tones someone and doesn't let it confirm a lock it should go off and hit another target or just go off and spin out of control with less of a chance to stay with the target. Then someone who actually takes the time to lock a plane and stay with it. I am a 'descent' plane pilot. I can do things to lose planes aside from just flying straight into the clouds or in a big circle. Now I hear a few seconds of a lock and then boom I am dead. I usually see 1 or 2 missiles fly past my wreckage when something like this happens. So basically lock, fire every missile and yoru guranted to kill whatever is in front of you.

By the way I'v seen your video up on google a different one however. Its titled "PlaneWhore". Those thrust and manuvers make me believe your in the air force possibly and a pilot at that. Thrusting only when climbing. Just your flying style would make one believe you are an actual air force pilot that or a big time flight simulator player.

I think this thread will break moongamers server thread's record for being the longest thread

It was 32 pages I think. We ll see if it ll be that long
