QUOTE: To me, the more important question is whether or not Planewhore can shake off someone who gets on his six first - that would prove a lot more. Of course, we'd never know if he was throwing the test just to make his point

To answer your question Chris, get behind him shoot him down a few times and soon you'll either

A: See him jump from the plane when its on fire.
B: Be taken out of bounds so that you die before you can recover.
C: Watch him leave the server where he's found someone that CAN shoot him down somewhat easily.

That is... if they/you fire before locked on though

Seems locked on will hit anything - the enemy or friendly

How can I be misinformed by my own personal experience? I've dodged an entire salvo (4-5) missiles. There was nothing else even remotely close for them to lock onto, they just stopped turning with me. Call me a liar if you want, I don't really care; this is just my personal experience.

Credibility is sonething you've not got to give after that vid.

Funnily enough you already lost all credibility ages ago when you insisted that 1.12 missiles are "fine, but people are not skilled enough to use them". It´s fact that I played Kubra Dam yesterday, used the Mig-29 and fired 3 AA missiles at a Hornet. They missed, without the enemy plane using flares, because he was flying nearly perpendicular to me. So No, AA missiles don´t "always hit". You´re just a noob at evading the new AA, that´s all.

SK, Ive seen a video, where missiles hit a plane flying nearly headon to the shooter.

So No, AA missiles don´t "always hit". You´re just a noob at evading the new AA, that´s all.
I see. Youre bringing in a wild example, through which you question someones crrdibility, even though that person posted up a video where missiles hit planes (during evasinve maneuvers aswell), when you have yet to post something similar.

I saw a monkey carrying a nuclear device in Karkand, must be an easter egg, we all know that people would have loved to see a WMD in BF2...

You just lost your credibility by bringing in a wild example trying to prove that "evasive maneuver post launch gives a pilot a chance to live". Good going, son, you want some ice cream to that BS?

Chris, I find your "I loved prolonged dogfights" rather ridiculous and a little unbelievable.

Pilots want points, they want to win the round, they want huge kill death ratios - their inflated egos (as clearly demonstrated in this thread) wouldn't let them accept anything less. In 1.12 dogfighting between two good pilots was a joke, as they could easily prevent the other pilot from taking them down with simple evasion manoeuvres. AS a result what happened was instead of chasing each other all round for very little reward, they'd simply just concentrate on decimating the ground since there's more points to had that way.

If it's so simple to avoid good pilots how come so many people suck at it? How come you suck as an aviator if it's so goddamn easy to fly?

The air-to-air missile behavior is bugged, like every other aspect in this game. The missile is not a 100% hit; it is just a matter of synchronization with the server. Sometimes I follow a plane, get a lock, release the missile and it goes strait ahead, instead of after the target. Why? The server did not register the lock. No lock, it means dumb missile. It has become a matter of luck, not skill, which I dislike.
Other time I get a lock, shoot and the missile goes after a friendly in the air. This is just another bug, nothing else.
Take the oil flame bug, for example, or that missile spinning insanely in circles. More bugs, when missiles hit something, but do not explode. The point is YES, I like this way of doing dogfights in the air, with modern missiles, not just cannon, but NO, I do not like these obvious bugs.

I´m a guy who enjoys the feeling of total exhaustion after a good game. Dogfight is a battle of skills for me, not a battle of kills. Its the guy who outsmarts, outplay,s outmaneuvers the other, who wins. If it takes me 10-15-20 minutes to do so, so be it. If I loose in the process, so be it. But man, I have so much fun when Im on the jets tail concentrating with my whole attention on the first mistake he makes so I can nail him. Its a mental game. Its extremely rewarding if I get the kill after such process. I feel good after that. Thats my fun, my game.

Pilots want points, they want to win the round, they want huge kill death ratios - their inflated egos (as clearly demonstrated in this thread) wouldn't let them accept anything less.
Im a human being and as such Im devoted to CANI. Constant And Neverending Improvement. If theres a goal in a game- then its just to get better. If theres a need in game, its a need for fun and entertainment.
I dont hunger huge KDR, its easy for me (was dead hard at first) just to resort to bombing the planes/choppers on ground, infantry, tanks. The sole fact that even now I cant kill an APC with the machine gun as easily, or bomb with a 100% precision makes me proud that I am not a 100% ATS player. Of course Ive had my own bombing runs, but Ive always seen myself as a ticket reduction tool. I wont deny that the bigger numbers have their own appeal, but my last months of play I had mostly relatively low KDRs with most points gathered from ATAs. My point is, dont generalize every pilot as a pointhungry idiot. People play for different reasons. I love a dogfight more than anything.

In 1.12 dogfighting between two good pilots was a joke, as they could easily prevent the other pilot from taking them down with simple evasion manoeuvres.
Thats a load of crap. Simple evasion maneuvers? HAH. Obviously youve gone against n00bs only. Even the best pilots have a weakness in their maneuvers. Its a golden rule that you engage how you see fit and only use your weapons when you have an opportunity. You obviously want a first-lock-first-kill fight. I dont blame you, seems that youre the one so eager to score, while you blame the rest of us. Most people who cant down a decent pilot make the mistake of treating every plane as if they were the same. The result is that they go into the same turns always the same way, but since planes are different, the outcome in that turn is different for both planes. Some gain, some lose.
Track a pilot for a while, see his weakness, take him down next time hes about to make the same weakness. Thats the whole secret. Joke? Joke is when you need a 1 shot 1 hit weapon because you cant fly for ****.

AS a result what happened was instead of chasing each other all round for very little reward, they'd simply just concentrate on decimating the ground since there's more points to had that way.
Youre questioning the motive here. Granted, more than often pilots were score-racing because they couldnt kill each other. Thats not a problem if the environment, thats a players problem.

                        Yeah, great video.

Shooting down idiotic pilots on a team that failed to use the Essex and the Stingers. Wow.

If you want to fly "with skill" go get Falcon 4.0 planewhore.

Prepatch flying gave the pilot almost mythical immortality, inablity to be shot down even by that which was designed to shoot them down (essex, stingers, enemy fighters), and made the planes have to use the Cannon, which IRL (yes, I know this is'nt IRL but meh) is pretty much a last resort or used to attack slow bombers\recon\patrol planes.

Planewhores in general whinged about how "awesome" dogfighting in pre-patch was, but I don't think plane whore got his 27 KDR by dogfighting.

Dogfights pre-patch : Player 1 gets behind player 2. Player 2 turns until player 1 gets bored. Player 1 and 2 start boming the enemy and base raping. Neither of them get shotdown unless they crash or get TKed. If both pilots good bombers, proceed to rack up 80+ scores.

If Player 2 sucks, they might crash or get shot down, Player 1 proceeds to base rape for the rest of the round.

Dogfights Current: Player 1 gets in behind Player 2, who has gone in on a bombing run without support and with no real target. Player One fires a missile, flares drop, Player 2 manuevers hard, avoids the next missile, then gets 2 up the tailpipe because he made himself vulnerable to being attacked. Player 1 goes to baserape, and gets owned by the Stinger site or Essex if he pushes his luck.

Pre Patch Sams: Player 1 cannons\bombs Player 2 (in SAM) and probably never got hit by a missile even if they did it 2000 times.

Post Patch Sams: Player 1 goes to cannon Player 2, but gets hit by a stinger, then gets blown away by the Mobile AA over to the left. Player 1 starts to be what he's supposed to be, which is a "fighter" taking out enemy planes and helos.

Like people complaing that Armour is harder to take out because you can't c4 throw anymore, planewhore is using the excuse that because it's easier to shoot down planes in AA, that they should re-nerf the SAMs and AA, so he can go base rape and get 50 kills per round again.

I posted a video in this thread taken pre-patch which could have proved the same thing. That vid that was posted to start this is a complete joke, how anyone can take that seriously is beyond me. One example he puts a lock on the guy and he's doesn't even twitch just flys straight on.

Miss your old dogfights, well tough the game was changed to make it better for the majority.

This is getting old now, but I think the bottom line is there is no way EA will change it back.

They were mostly fine on the jets, you just had to have a little patience and pick the right time to fire them off. Even if a guy was doing the noob circle, you could still pick him off by offsetting your circle to his, at one point or another your jet is over his and you pop two missiles off that didn't even need to be locked, problem solved.

Now, they made it even easier for me, instead of having to wait for the jet to be flying within about 30 degrees of the jets fuselage and that no team aircraft were around within about 300 units, you only have to be within about 40-45 degrees because the missiles turn that much tighter now.

I don't have problems evading the new AA, I just don't fly that low and dive bomb from a higher level now (just like in DC). People on the ground are still going to be ****ed about air power because of people that played DC/BF42/BFV will just go back to doing exactly what they did in those games to run wild on everything they need with the bombs.

The ground AA needed to be reworked, that is for sure. But, for jet on jet, it didn't need that much tweaking. But, I'd have to go out on a limb and assume their still using the same cookie cutter missile code on the ground and the jets instead of seperating them, just like they do on everything else in this game.

I'm hoping to god that a decent mod comes out and fixes the **** that should be fixed and still make for a fun game, because the patches on this game go from one extreme end of the spectrum on one thing and then flips a 180 on another.

What you think about the patch, kinda sucks dont it? Any N00b that can grab a joystik now can almost shoot you down if they can slip in behind you without you noticing.
As for being shot down, you know me, I'll take the hit and die like a man rather than be a 'chumper = jumper' Lol
Where you been dude? Havent seen you for quite some time and have looked occasionally.Still in the RD? I tried it there a few times a lil while back but the frkn hackers ran me off, as well as the idiot tk'ers at the hanger waiting on the plane. Look me up sometime in game-monitor, I'm always in the same server which by the way is admined kinda nicely and people who are suspect are booted with quickness.
