EA downloader

hi all .... just a quick word regarding the EA downloader service..
did any of the lads and lasses of the TBF2 community use this service to purchase the special ops expansion pack.. And if so could you tell me the payment options available as i have no credit card and my request to get one has been denied by Mrs shark attack (a BF2 widow)... Seems i cant be trusted with a £2500 credit limit (rightly so)..Have tried contacting EA on this matter but to no avail..

This is a perfect example of why the downloader is a bad idea. Imagine all the people that have all the game up to this point that WON"T be able to get EF because of the inability to get a credit/debit card to purchase it with. Or even those that refuse to make purchases via the internet. How much money do you think they will be losing by not offering the xpack on cd?

IMHO they'll lose nothing compared to the low price they can sell the game at via the Downloader. If it was available in the stores it could be twice the price. EA won't go down this patch until enough copies of it get downlaoded first I imagine.


*Normally* you need to be 16+ to buy the game and some 16 year-olds already have CC's and most at least know someone who can buy it for them.


People in the USA can buy a Visa Gift card which is a CC number for a fixed amount of cash.

How can you pay?.. i have debit card and a switch card but no credit card..
is direct debit an option or will i miss out on euro pack

EA downloader is a way for EA to make even more money. Without having to pay for Cd's, packaging and shipping. We win by getting something that may have cost $15-$20 for $10.

And its pure profit, they don't have to sell it to any distributors at 30-45% of retail price.

They do have to pay for the servers and bandwidth, but a small price to pay if it's successful. Which btw looks like it was with the test bed BF2: SF.

I would bet you will see more comapanies doing this, and EA doing it a lot more for other games.

That being said, people who really want it….will find a way to get it. $10 is nothing, if your in a clan or gaming group you can always find someone who will spot you the cost of the game and you can send them the money.

Most banks debt cards also act as credit cards. They just draw from you checking/saving account.

I went down the order route for SF and switch/meastro was listed as a payment type. I didnt complete my order as i allready had SF was just looking to make sure i could Get EF on the downloader, I take it your a UK player. So assuming EF is the same as SF we can get it on switch.

As i remember the SF pack Via the EA downloader was the same price as the one instores. How does that work?? Wouldnt it cost less if you downloaded it. As you dont need to pay for cds or packaging and distribution fees. All i can say is dont plan on playing it for a while if you do buy it. I heard it takes hours to download even with a good connection.

I had a debit card, and bought stuff off Amazon all the time. I'm sure that would work fine^

I heard it takes hours to download even with a good connection.

We won't know until tomorrow but does it really matter? I got SF (about 1Gb) in 4 hours (I think!)

euroforce is 300-400mb, can u use paypal?
