I would never use the 'vehicle in water' method to earn the badges but I can see why some people do because it just seems impossible to earn the Expert Engineer badge honestly.

i hate that method....i've also seen people take two vodniks and switch between having them shoot at each other and repairing them while their guns cool, but i don't know if it was like this before the 1.2 patch...but you don't get points for repairing something you damaged :laugh:

It seems kind of silly that teammates cant run over and explode mines. In real life, if youve got an idiot driving a tank and he runs over a frienly mine...its gonna blow up.

But I am also in agreeance with those who say engineers should get more repair points. Its kind of annoying to repair a whole tank for a good 1 minte and not even get a point for it.

True but (I'm not actually wanting to bring 'real-life' into the equation) in real-life, you'd imagine the 'team' would be informed of where they can expect to find their side's mines. As in, they'd be marked in on maps (one would hope) and no tank crew would ignore that kind of map.

In the game, you don't even have that luxury. People within the community have occasionally discussed the idea of 'spotting' mines so that they appear permanently on the Mini-Map of teammates but I doubt that would work, either. After all, if you can't see them with your own eyes, can't acknowledge the red skull and crossbones indicator on the 3D map or the one that appears on the HUD, then it's the same visual impairment / mental retardation that's going to prevent you from seeing any other indicators.

FF Off (for AT Mines) would be a great solution if that setting was favoured by servers but because it's locked in with FF Off for claymores (I'm told), it leads to a huge amount of complaining from victims of claymore spam ... so within many servers we're back at square one ... which totally sucks.

I sometimes daydream about a solution in which anyone who drives over a friendly AT Mine is banned from all vehicles for a short period ... then they'd learn to be a lot more careful!

Of course, for various reasons that solution would never actually work ...

Ive been playying mostly(90%) as an engineer from the start of 42...I really just dont see the problem with FF off for mines...I mean who does it really matter to,tankers who dont want to have play as engi?

Through thousands of hours of this series Ive never had a problem hopping out and picking up mines(when the coast is clear ofcourse)...I also have never had a problem being gunner for a tank and hopping out and removing mines or removing them so people could cross this is how we did it in 42 was common practice...I do think they should make a filter ofcourse to see what the server setting is before you join or filters them out.

Any Engi whos been at it a long time knows that the mine issue has been a headache since day one.like if you had it where the mines just blow up but do not destroy a friendly ,then you get "Yahoo Serious" who keeps driving to his death on his rocket powered jeep/atv over and over again the whole round and just runs them over to be a jerk...I can still see them on the backstretch of Gazala where we controlled all the flags,yet they had to "yahoo" across the mined bridge to go baserape :laugh: .

People arent considerate to other classes very much,and please I know "The server I play on isnt full of tards"......But In 4 years Ive seen no server completely tardless unless it was an organized clan match with everyone on comms.

I think for now perhaps post here at the forums post "Servers w/FF off IP's please" and then add to your favorites until they get a proper filter.I for one love being able to use my mines and dont see some huge lack of realism considering this is a game where people really dont care for one another and will just ruin your game and not think twice about it.

LOL more like death of the engineer. Reasons:
- While engineers might be able to use the mines without having them blown up, we can't throw them anymore. So if a tank drives up to you and you're engi you have to put it in back and risk getting run over. And if the driver backs over the mines and you are to close, you're going to die too.
- Mines are very easy to spot. Only an inexperienced tank driver would hit a mine.
- MP7 was totally nerfed in 1.2. Damage was reduced from 24 to 19, and minimum deviation was increased from 0.37 to 0.6. The gun is pretty much useless now.

TITAN126, I've never thought charging at a tank with mines out was particularly great anyway. Plus relying on the MP7 in combat was never that brilliant. Better off with the shotgun and a vehicle.

People should learn that the APCs and tanks should be driven by engineers. What annoys me more is when you see assault or sniper kits dominating the few APCs or tanks that are available on some maps.

Nevertheless at least with 1.2 people are using AT mines. Previously it just wasn't wise to use them for fear of Tk'ing.

I know charging a tank with mines is not that great. Still, if a tank is trying to kill you, it was a good last resort.

I thought the MP7 was a good alternative to the shotguns. Personally, I just prefer rifles and SMGs to shotguns.

And I agree with you, tanks should be driven by engineers. There's nothing better than getting you and your buddies in tanks as engi and whoring it up on Karkand.

I think some players can be a little smarter about mine placement.

Run over them my friend, they don't hurt team mates anymore, unless the server has it set to.
