    L85a1

don't get me wrong the L85A1 is my favorite Medic class weapon but it is NOT all it's cracked up to be, it has a scope yes, but that scope is short ranged and the recoil combined with the ROF and damage makes it hard to take out enemies the only thing it offers me over the M16A2 is exactly the only reason I like it....it is almost the exact same weapon as the M4A1, which next to the G36C is my fave weapon of the current installed game I have, the scope may be low zoom but it does allow for spotting (I may have easy shots but I rarely use it in spawn camping) and to find the best place for me to order my team to place explosives/mines etc. where to set up a good defense or attack, heck even where the best place to plop down 18 rounds of arty would be, best place for a supply drop, and the best place to send a UAV. over all I love the weapon but it's really not that good, may I also mention that's also the sole reason I like the M4....scoping out places to plop down C4

PS: I am pretty much doing this to keep the flamefest off EA for the buggy patch lately, I haven't played MP and don't have the patch but from the vids I have seen let me clue you I think they should have kept it at Vanilla version (or whatever you call the straight outta the box version) but come on give them a break, MVP 2004 sucked too, does that mean I hated it? hell no it was still argueably the best baseball game on the planet at the time, even with the lefty bug, which was never officially fixed

L85A1 has 34 damage, M4A1 has 25 damage. That is a big difference . I don't really understand the purpose of your thread. To buff up L85A1? I agree with you on that matter, L85A1 is my favourite weapon also. I think it needs buffing because it has a worse deviation than AK which is false. Real life L85A1 is much much more accurate than AK. I would expect a lower deviation from L85A1. Even though it is not as good as AK in close combat, it is still my favourite weapon because of the scope and the sound.

Agreed, if you have decent aim you can kill someone with one click of the G36E.

actually it's not, in real life it's recoil is blown to hell and back because all weight is in the stock, the AK's only problem is the recoil of it's 7.62MM round, their pretty much equal on accuracy

which is why I am getting frustrated that my Special Forces copy won't get past the "Patching BF2 to version 1.1 please wait" stage, seriously last time I checked "Please Wait" didn't mean "Please Wait an Hour" and even if I don't get past that stage it won't boot

              I honestly love the L85A1.

It's not powerful enough to be nerfed...and difficult to use for many. However, once mastered, it is a very deadly weapon.

Unfortunatly, it's inaccuracy at a distance does make you squeeze off quite a few rounds before you get a kill, at times.

Never Never use auto on distance with L85A1. With single shot mode, I have no problem hitting targets that are far away. Anything longer than 10 metre I will use single shot mode. L85A1 is the worst assault rifle for sniping at AUTO.

one question, ever fired one in real life?
the L85A1 is god damn accurate up to 300m, n when you fire the damn thing u dont start hitting 30m away from your sights lol, the deviation after about 2 shots is awfull nothing like the m16 i beleive, hmmm same rounds, nearly same length barrel hmm, lil odd dont you think? plus on the EF L85A2 the rearsight, forsight n UGL (ag36) is modelled wrong! hmm no mistake on the other ones though, well done EA/DICE at making a mess out of a brit gun...again *sigh*

Funnily enough I used the weapon for some years and it is far more accurate than an Ak.
I believe it's one of the most accurate Assault Rifles around at the moment!?!
I had consitent tight groupings every time I was on the range so I dont know where you base your theory.

my point exactly, annoying when people go blah blah blah about how guns are etc etc when they've never fired them! you in the army m8? oh btw, i read that the l85 was tested against the m16, m4, famas, g36 n ak101, came out tops on accuracy, even with the ol' ironsights, n fastest reload time, dunno what that soldier missing the magazine housing when he reloads ingame is all about!? lol

Yea I was in the Army(Infantry).
What you find is people just reading stuff off the net and then making out they know all about the weapon.
I never even had a problem with magazines falling off, stoppages and the like.
I reckon if you can get tight groupings wearing a respirator then it's a good weapon.

very true, im soon to be signing up, just waiting for another year yet >.< fired the gun quite a few times with cadets etc, fired the l86, fell inlove with them both lol, from what i heard, the A2 is a hell of an improvement, never held n A1 so cant rlly judge, another thing i hate, reading articles on the l85a2 saying its absolute rubbish unfit for combat etc etc, i've never properlly used one, but from the extent i have, n hearing from my uncle, they seem to be the best out there! oh and another quick rant, why couldn't yea have the l86 as the support for the EU? lol woulda been great ^^

Man knows his stuff. He's right on the money...

Having limited time with the rifle (extremely limited) I will say it's accurate. It's at LEAST a 6-inch grouping weapon at 300m. Excluding flyers. Although, an M16a2 with Optics can perform the same. Yet, it doesn't default to the 4x that comes standard with this rifle (Not being of military service, I'm not sure if it still does. Yet, the one I fired had a standard 4x Optic.

...although. It's a very unbalanced weapon. I won't deny that. It's EXTREMELY back heavy. Yet, I'm sure the British Army is using as much better version that the rifle I fired. The FN F2000 is a "DREAM" to fire though. Anyone who has a respectable range around them should get their hands on one of these at least for a trial... it "oozes" sexy. Damn comfortable shoot also.

I think the L85a1 got it's bad rap because of the early models of it. The L85a1 is a very troublesome weapon; yet this is the case with most new arms. Look at the M16. It was horrible weapon, until the a1. Now, with the right care, it's a weapon than shoot very tight groups at 300m. Hell, it can even engage targets at 600m. Although, at that range you're seriously limited by the 5.56 ammunition. It's possible, just highely unlikely.
