If the idiot expects anything else on top of a ladder then claymores, he's beyond help.

But yes, when you driving around it would be helpful to know if it's c4 or a mine.

          As far a claymores go:
They should be destroyable with a grenade and if you walk over them you die. Not decided yet if it should count as a suicide (because you're stupid) or a normal deatch (because the owner was stupid e.g. like arty).

And thinking about it, probably everybody should be able to disarm them (from the back). If you notice them, you probably should be able to do something about them.

The realism people are stupid.....if the game was totally realistic it wouldn't be as fun.....gameplay and balance should come well before realism. Of course i have thought about it and thats the point. Your teammates are just going to run through it if they are idiots and waste your claymore which may be a bit annoying but this is a lot better than also getting a TK for it is it not? Also as you know half your teammates will just run through your claymore you will not be able to spam them all over karkand where everyone runs and rack up easy kills. The sniper can still put them at a ladder for protecting his back and its unlikley that a teammate will come up and waste it unless your sniping from the main ally in karkand. Do you see my point?

There is no simple solution to this, simply turning FF off on claymores was the dumbest solution ever. They should have given mines, c4, and claymores different warning symbols. That would at least reduce the number of idiots that climbed a ladder you rigged with claymores as well as reduce the number of mine TKs. It would not be a SOLUTION, but would definately help the situation.
yes i agree...and different icons would help.....there is no simple solution but my solution is the best to help balance the problem.

Here is a very simple solution. Make claymores half as deadly to teammates. Ie When a teammate with full health walks over a claymore then it will go off but only take half of his heath. This will give the sniper a small penalty and the individual wo walked over it a penalty.

Allow grenades to blow them up again and you are all set.

Yes that would work but then its nearly the same as what it was like in 1.12....if a half damaged teammate walks over it then it will be a full TK still too.....I'm happy with that but the reason its been changed is because the snipers moaning that they are getting TK's and banned for idiots running over there claymores.

Just wondering why you can't just go around the mined area?

Claymores serve a purpose by dissolving massed attacks. It's their raison d'etre. Either disarm them or go around them. I can honestly say I haven't been blown up by one since the patch.

well think of the hotel flag on karkand...you can either go up the stairs or up the ladder i put 1 on the stairs and one above the ladder, the flag is now impossible to get to on foot....also thanks to all the support guys with the over powered PKM i get more ammo and put another 3 down around the flag.

                          Re: Claymore Solution

Then the first guy is going to die - oh well, this is war.

At any rate, there is always a solution - call arty to kill the sniper, lose one guy climbing the ladder. IIRC the sniper only has 3 claymores before he needs resupply...

I hope noone plays this game expecting to last the whole round unscathed... you will get killed, often in fact, when assaulting a well defended position.

                            That is so true.

If you look at the older BlackHawk Down game, claymores were used to protect snipers who were hiding inside buildings. Often smart snipers would claymore an unoccupied building and wait for the enemy to detonate the claymore with a grenand so they could then be alerted where the enemy was and sneak up to knife the enemy.

How about, if you prone, the claymore doesn't activate? Like MGS?

                                Re: Claymore Solution

I think the problem with the claymore issue is there are not many buildings that snipers can enter and snipe from.

All the sniping in BF2 takes place on roof tops and hills. Any person who took a "REAL" sniper course knwos the first lesson in sniping is not pick some spot out in the open where everyone can spot you.

I think BF2's older competitor (blackhawk down) had a good solution. The fields had dozens of buildings that soldiers could enter and shoot from windows.

Thats what BF2 lacks and why claymores are used by snipers as boobytraps instead of defensive measures.

If Euro Force made it so that all the buildings on the map are accessible and have windows and rooftops. Then the game will change for the better.

Snipers would hide in buildings and use claymore to cover their backside. Soldeirs can travel from building to building and void getting shot in the open by snipers and APC's.

That i think is the one thing EA has failed to do with BF2 and SF. They havent allowed access to buildings and windows. The very few that have such access are either wide open (ie. construction site) or consist really of hallways and stairwells to the roof.

The point is, its too easy to spot snipers because they vantage points are rooftops or hills.

Hmmm, this discussion got me to remembering the benefits of Blackhawk Down game, cant wait till i get home to play it, havent playedd since Joint Operations and BF2 came out.
